I am back with another Sonia Kashuk lip crayon review, this time with a nice and bright shade, Raspberry Nude. I love matte lipsticks and Sonia Kashuk’s lip crayons are one of the best drugstore matte lip crayons one can ever find. Let’s get started with the review.

My Experience with Sonia Kashuk Raspberry Nude Velvety Matte Lip Crayon:
I love matte lip colors and for some reason I prefer the highly pigmented shades of lipstick in matte texture. They look better I believe, and make one’s face look bright. Sonia Kashuk’s Raspberry Nude shade is one such beautiful shade.
It’s still summer in the US and I was kind of obsessed with pink lipsticks this summer. I wanted to buy something on the lines of MAC Flat Out Fabulous or MAC Girl About Town. But those lipsticks are neither easy on the pocket nor easy to slip in the grocery shopping innocently so that the dear husband won’t think it’s a huge deal (if you have ever shopped with your husband and seen his look every time you enter a MAC or Sephora store, you will sympathize with me). Also, if I want to try a bold color, I try one of the drug store brands until I am comfortable with carrying such a bold color before buying a similar shade in MAC or any other high-end brands.
Sonia Kashuk’s Raspberry Nude lip crayon is an amazing reddish-pink shade. I have the skin tone of NC40-42 (I get tanned easily) and it suits me quite well. It also makes my face look brighter.
The Sonia Kashuk lip crayons, though matte, are not very drying. The shade is intensely pigmented and glides on quite easily on the lips. It does tug if you haven’t exfoliated and used a lip balm on your lips first. However, it does not settle in the lines after some time like some of the crayons might do. Like all matte lipsticks, it’s essential to apply a lip balm before using a matte lip color, so that’s something I do before using this lip crayon as well.
As far as the staying power is concerned, it lasted me almost 4-5 hours with light snacking. It didn’t dry out the lips, neither did it feather, which is an amazing thing considering how pigmented the color is. Fig aroma is a tall claim. I don’t have a sensitive nose so I didn’t detect any aroma, fig or no-fig.
The only other lip crayons I have ever used are the Revlon Matte Balm and I must say that the Sonia Kashuk lip crayons are way way better than Revlon ones as far as texture is concerned. I threw away my Revlon Matte Balm crayon away as it would dry my lips out, look feathered, and ridiculous over the time on my intensely dry lips. If you are someone who has very dry lips, you might want to give Sonia Kashuk lip crayons a try. They are infinitely better than Revlon.
Also, recently I wore this when I was on a holiday and the color looked fabulous one my tanned skin as well. Plus, it lasted me an entire day, with no touch ups except after lunch.

Yes, a very beautiful bright shade and perfect for all seasons. If you like brighter, bolder colors, give this shade a try. It’s not nude.
Final Word – It is a perfect drug store lip crayon with beautiful shade that lasts decently. Also, I wonder why it’s called Raspberry Nude. There’s hardly anything nude about it. It’s all out and loud and wearing fancy shmancy pants kind of a shade.
