St. Ives Blackhead Clearing Green Tea Scrub Review

St. Ives Blackhead Clearing Green Tea Scrub Review

Hello friends,

Hope all of you are doing fine. I am here to share another skin care purchase with you all, and it is an oil free, paraben free and sulfate free skin care product from our much-loved brand St Ives. Yes you hear it right, now St. Ives came up with their blackhead clearing green tea scrub which targets problem areas and is formulated without parabens and sulfates.  However, they still need to cut down the proportion of other chemicals in their formulation to make it 100% natural and beneficial scrub for every beauty. Nevertheless, I am still happy with this scrub and it’s hard to find it as it’s always OOS online as well as in stores.  And I can understand why? Thankfully, I caught hold of its 6 travel size tubes a while back and now I am on my way to finish the third tube.  Yes, I have to stock it before it disappears again 😛 Anyway, let’s read on further to know more about St. Ives Blackhead Clearing Green Tea Scrub.

St. Ives Blackhead Clearing Green Tea Scrub

From America’s #1 Scrub brand, this scrub with 100% Naturally Derived exfoliants and skin-soothing green tea gently fights blemishes and reduces redness & irritation caused by acne. The result is clear and calm skin.

Product Benefits:

  • 100% Naturally Derived Exfoliants.
  • Paraben Free.
  • Oil Free.
  • Dermatologist Tested.

Packaging:

This mild grainy exfoliant comes in a hygienic tube packaging and is available in a travel pack of 1 Oz apart from bulky 6 Oz packaging too. It has the familiar texture and even smell like that of usual St. Ives scrubs, nothing new; however, paraben free and sulfate free formulation is much appreciated.

My Experience with St. Ives Blackhead Clearing Green Tea Scrub:

Well, we all are familiar with this brand and love it to the core, isn’t it? Moreover, it is highly commendable to see St. Ives cutting down parabens and sulfates in its skin care product formulation. Talking about this new green tea scrub, the texture of the scrub is exactly similar to its green tea scrub, just that it targets whiteheads/blackheads and works much efficiently than the former on my nasty zits. I usually apply it on my target areas and not all over the face because firstly it’s meant to be blackhead-clearing product unlike a scrub and secondly I feel I might finish it off quickly 😛 I won’t say it works from day one as one has to be patient enough to wait and observe results which show only by the 2nd or 3rd week.

St. Ives Blackhead Clearing Green Tea Scrub

I feel like any St. Ives scrub can give you clear skin and I would prefer this mild grainy scrub over apricot one, but then it is not as good as my other scrubs from Ole Henriksen or Dr. Brandt, to be honest! I saw considerable change on my blackheads and whiteheads after a month of using it while I feel that I need to wait a little longer to remove those ancient nasty zits on my nose area.

It is advised to use it thrice a day as per convenience, but I use it twice daily along with my CTM routine.  I feel it alone might not be sufficient to take care of my skin and we do need to follow up with traditional steaming or strip clearing methods in conjunction with the scrub so as to reap maximum benefits of getting clear skin. Moreover, it might feel slightly sticky on the skin though it’s not of much bother.  It does not cause any dryness or irritation on my sensitive skin thankfully though I always follow up with moisturizer post using this scrub.  I am actually considering it as a supplement skin care regimen along with CTM skin care regimen as my late 20’s skin needs much more than this mild grainy textured scrub which might be ideal for the younger 20s generation 😛 I would highly recommend it to all young cuties with oily/combination skin, it might fit your pocket money and skin care regimen as well.  I am also considering these for my little sisters.

St. Ives Blackhead Clearing Green Tea Scrub

Let’s sum up pros and cons:

Pros of St. Ives Blackhead Clearing Green Tea Scrub:

  • A mild and grainy-textured scrub infused with the goodness of green tea, olive oil to treat blemishes and blackheads/
  • Quite effective on newly-formed blackheads and whiteheads, prevents future zits.
  • Way too mild on skin and hence gentle enough for sensitive and acne-prone skin.
  • Does not dry out skin, does not irritate sensitive skin.
  • Works well in conjunction with other skin care products.
  • A paraben free, oil free and sulfate free scrub which will suit even most sensitive skin types.

Cons of St. Ives Blackhead Clearing Green Tea Scrub:

  • Might not help much with stubborn blackheads.
  • Shows results after 2-3 weeks.
  • Too mild for problematic skin of late 20s-30s, especially for gals with other oily skin issues.
  • Contains a lot of chemicals.

Overall, I feel this scrub is really good for mild whiteheads and blackheads and that too for younger skin of 20s, not of late 20s when we need much stronger and heavy formulation to treat our ageing plus problematic skin, especially oily and acne-prone skin, you know what I mean? I think I will consider it for winters when my skin tends to become slight dry that too in conjunction with other products as it might be too mild for my skin otherwise.

IMBB Rating:

I would give it 4/5!

    1. oh i can understand u must hv forgot after using mia 2.. 🙂 I also use it as supplement care coz its too mild for my weird ageing skin knw.. 😛 but its really great for price and results on every young youthful skin..

    1. Bakul it will definitely help with blemishes and blach/white heads just u need to be regular and wait a week. It wont help for stubborn deep seated older blackheads though.. 😛 unless u use it after steaming or facial session.. go ahead n get it!!

  2. i think I need this your review made the day 🙂 I use pore strips but they can be cruel to the skin but this can be a milder option 😀

    1. true parmita, nose strips can cause broken capillaries I heard and read on imbb itself.. 🙁 thats hw I drop down usage of pore strips nw.. :O this might help u with blemishes and blackheads but remember to use it after hot shower wen ur pores r open naturally.. (y) gud luck gal!!

    1. jomol me too like bit harsh scrubs since my ski need more heavy intense scrbbing than grainy mild scrubs, its ideal for younger skin.. 🙂
it will work well in conjunction wid other heavy harsh facial treaments.. can rotate it wid other skin care regimens for best results
