St. Ives Makeup Remover and Facial Cleanser

St. Ives Makeup Remover and Facial Cleanser

By Poonam S.

Hello Friends,

I have been a silent follower of IMBB for the past few months. I am seriously addicted to this blog. A day without visiting this blog is impossible. IMBB is so informative. After appreciating this blog, beautiful Rati and all the IMBBians for a long time, I thought I have a few products which I would like to share. I am a little introvert by nature, so it would be tough for me to put my thoughts and views into words. I am hoping that you will like this review. So, here is my first review of St. Ives Makeup Remover and Facial Cleanser.

Price:

SGD 6.90 (INR 285) for 170 gm.

Product Description:

This cleanser effortlessly removes even the heaviest make-up while cleaning the skin. It is non-irritating.

Ingredients:

I never used to look at the ingredients of the product before purchasing cosmetics, but now I do as I know which one is good for the skin and which one is bad, thanks to you people.

Here is the list of the ingredients present in the cleanser: Water (Aqua), Mineral oil (Paraffium, Luidium, Huile minerale), Propylene glycol, PEG-100 searate, Glycerin, Stearic acid, Cetyl alcohol, Triethanolamine, Polysorbate 80, Carbomer, Citric Acid, Phenethyl alcohol, PPG-2 methyl ether, Methylisothiazolinone, Chamomilla recutita (Martcaria) flower extract, Yellow 5(Cl 19140).

Directions To Use:

Moisten face with water. Dispense product onto fingertips and massage over face. Rinse with water. Avoid direct contact with eyes.

The product claims that this “cleanser effortlessly removes even the heaviest make-up.”  So, here I created a patch for testing the cleanser’s efficacy by applying a few makeup products I usually use (L’Oreal Matte Morphose Foundation followed by L’Oreal True Match Super Blendable Powder, Deborah Trio Hi Tech Eyeshadow and Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick).

After moistening the patch with water, I applied the cleanser. The cleanser is creamy in texture and it is smooth on the skin.

After rubbing the cleanser over the foundation, powder, eyeshadow, and lipstick patch.

After rinsing with water, the cleanser did clear out the foundation, powder, etc., but was not able to clean the lipstick mark completely.

Verdict:

For me, this product is working and I love it. Though, it is not a good product for removing makeup, but then I do not use makeup especially in summers. After having a sunny day out, I prefer to clean my face with cleanser as it cleans the dirt and oil (I have super oily skin) from face, soothes my skin and makes it soft. The product contains chamomile flower extract which acts as an anti-inflammatory agent on the skin.

Pros of St. Ives Makeup Remover and Facial Cleanser:

  • Non-irritating.
  • Dermatologically tested.
  • Not tested on animals.
  • Does not contain animal ingredients.
  • Formulated without parabens and phthalates (this part is best).
  • Contains chamomile flower extract.
  • Tube packaging is attractive, hygienic to use, dispenses only required amount.
  • This cleanser didn’t break me out.

Cons of St. Ives Makeup Remover and Facial Cleanser:

  • Does not remove makeup effectively.
  • I am not able to think of any more cons.
IMBB Rating:
4/5
