St. Ives Timeless Skin Apricot Scrub Review

St. Ives Timeless Skin Apricot Scrub Review

Hello Lovely ladies,

Though some day, I intend to tell you the entire story how the beauty bee stung me, how I started my skin care regime, but today let me limit myself to the review of one of the St. Ives Timeless Skin Apricot Scrub.  St. Ives is a popular name in skin care brand due to its availability, fair price and quality. Exfoliation is an essential part of skin care and facial regime. Before using this, I was using Neutrogena Blackhead Removing Gentle Daily Scrub, but I was not satisfied with the results. My hubby is excellent at selecting products based on reviews (may be because he is just concerned with the results regardless of the price), so he selected L’oreal Pure Zone Exfoliation Gel, which turned out to be truly very good, but was drilling a hole in my wallet.  So, after a thorough search and thinking, I moved on to St. Ives Scrub. All the four categories of facial care products offer scrubs: naturally clear (blemish and blackhead control scrub + green tea scrub already reviewed on IMBB), fresh skin, timeless skin and sensitive skin range, I have used them all and found them equally good. Let’s move to the review of the scrub I am currently using.

What does exfoliation means?

Exfoliation involves the removal of the oldest dead skin cells on the skin’s outermost surface, and has been used for many years to help maintain healthy skin. Exfoliation is involved in the process of all facials, during microdermabrasion or chemical peels at medical spas.

My Take on St. Ives Timeless Skin Apricot Scrub:

This amazing scrub is white in color, with brown coloured naturally derived exfoliants. The consistency of the scrub is thick, but it is easily derived from the flip-top tube. The packaging is handy and travel friendly. The amount of exfoliants is optimum, making the scrub formula a gentle one, not on the abrasive side. It can be used on a daily basis for normal and mature skin types. I have combination skin and I use it every other day, or whenever I do facial at home. I have never observed irritation, harsh lines or minor bruises after the use of this scrub, but I will suggest that people with sensitive skin may better use St. Ives sensitive skin version of scrub, because it is mentioned on the tube that this timeless apricot scrub contains alpha hydroxyl acid (ADA) which may increase skin’s sensitivity to the sun for a week after the product is used, also use of sunscreen or protective clothing is recommended in such case.

Apricot scrub 4

The scrub has a fruity aroma resembling apricots. The result of the scrub is excellent. It removes dead cells, decreases black and white heads remarkably, cleanses properly and unclogs pores.  It doesn’t break me out ever.  My skin feels fresh, smooth and cleansed after the use. It doesn’t dry my skin. The good amount of exfoliants in it make me even use it at times as a foot scrub since I haven’t found any good foot scrub yet. No such other functional scrub is known to me till date. I just wish it had salicylic acid, which works as an anti-acne agent. Though I don’t have acne problem, but since many people suffer that, I wish every such product acts against acne formation.

Apricot scrub 5

It is good to know that the scrub is paraben and phthalate  free, with no animal ingredients used and is hypoallergenic and non-comodogenic (which means acts against acne), but I am not sure that whether it truly tones and firms skin or not, may be it does in the long term and for that, just wait and watch!

Pros of St. Ives Timeless Skin Apricot Scrub:

  • Excellent quality and quantity at a very affordable price.
  • Functions well as an exfoliant.
  • Pleasant apricot fragrance.
  • Convenient packaging.
  • Leaves skin smooth, fresh and cleansed.
  • Unclogs pores, non-comedogenic, means acts against acne.
  • Removes dead cells efficiently.
  • Reduces black and whites heads remarkably.
  • Free of parabens.
  • Available on all major departmental and cosmetic stores.

Cons of St. Ives Timeless Skin Apricot Scrub:

  • I just wish it contained salicylic acid as an additional ingredient that could act against acne formation.

IMBB Rating:

5/5
