Stila Smudge Pot - Black Review

Price: Around $20 for 4.2 ml

Product Description:
Stila smudge pots take the prize for sexy eyes! This unique gel eyeliner/eye shadow is an innovative alternative to traditional powder and liquid formulas. This clever little gel has an inky intensity. Remember to always close the airtight lid to keep the gel soft and pliable.

How to use:
To create a smoky, blended look use the #20 brush or #28 brush.
If you want to create a straight line, we recommend the #13 brush.
For precise liner application, apply with a liner brush such as the Stila #4 brush.
You can also wear smudge pots on the inner rim of the eyes. Use the large side of a #28 brush to create this look.
Apply with a liner brush for razor sharp precision or smudge it with your fingers for more complete coverage.

My Experience with Stila Smudge Pot Black:

Packaging: It comes packaged in a glass jar with a screw on cap, which comes packed in a cardboard box. The cap has a black coloured sticker, the colour of the shade; hence it is easy to pick if you happen to have more shades from this range. Screw on cap closes firmly and hence the packaging is travel friendly.

I was gifted a gel eyeliner with a brush, which was just lying in my drawer and finally passed on to someone, who could not use it, because it was dried. Any ways the brush is still with me and has come handy. Coming to today’s review, black is a jet black colour and gives a beautiful definition to my eyes. The texture is gel like and has an inky intensity and indeed very smooth and easy to apply. One smooth swipe and you are done. Does not irritate or burn my sensitive eyes. I use it as eyeliner on my upper lid, near my lower lashes and also on my waterline. It’s a perfect jet black, just what I always wanted.

This smudge pot can be used like gel eyeliner or applied as an eyeshadow, to get a smoky look. When smudged or used as an eyeshadow, this shade gives a coal black colour effect. The pigmentation is great and hence makes it more preferable to powder or liquid formulas.

Stila has various shades available in this range and some of them like Kitten shade can be used as a base under eyeshadow for a long lasting makeup that stays in place. A variety of different looks can be created by using fingers or a brush with their smudge pots. Black is perfect for creating a sultry, smoky eye look. I prefer using it as traditional eyeliner and love the texture, pigmentation and stay power. Indeed long lasting, it does not fade for 8 hours at least. It does smudge or transfer once allowed to dry. It needs to be removed with a makeup remover, to get a clean fresh look.

The most important thing is to keep the lid closed tightly, so that it does not dry easily.
