Stila Water Lily Aqua Glow Watercolor Blush Review

Hello everyone,

This review will be on a new release by Stila. It’s the Aqua Glow Watercolor blush in the shade “Water Lily.” I have also reviewed the shade “Shimmering Lotus” here on IMBB.

Stila Water Lily Aqua Glow Watercolor Blush

Product Description:
An oil-free, lightweight, water-based blush in an exclusive netted pot delivery system.

What it does:

Bring a sheer wash of color to the cheeks while creating a rejuvenated effect. This gel formula cools upon contact and blends seamlessly to create a luminous, healthy-looking glow. The exclusive, mesh-touch color dispenser delivers a single flush of color each time, and its luminous finish provides a fresh glow to the skin. The water-based formula goes on crystal clear, allowing the pure pigments and pearls to be dispersed evenly and blend in seamlessly, giving the skin a fresh, smooth, and supple appearance.  It is formulated without parabens, sulfates, and phthalates.

My Experience with Stila Water Lily Aqua Glow Watercolor Blush:

Packaging:  This product comes in a small pot container with a screw lid. Inside the blush is separated by a mesh. You dip your finger or a brush on the mesh to pick up product. I do think the product is very easy to use and practical and the mess is kept under control with this kind of packaging which is usually common with liquid blushes. Though I will not consider this packaging very travel friendly.

Texture/Consistency:  This blush is hybrid between a creamy blush and a liquid runny blush. It is a water and gel based, it is not runny. It spreads and blends effortlessly into the skin. I do find that the best method of applying these blushes is with fingertips as that helps me get the most concentrated color. Using a brush or sponge sheers out this product even further which works as a disadvantage since these blushes are already so sheer.

Shade/Pigmentation/Finish:  The shade “Water Lily” is a beautiful medium pink. This shade looks very flattering on my skin tone and gives an appearance of naturally flushed cheeks. The finish it gives is very glow-y, dewy and makes the skin look healthy and young. This shade too contains shimmer particles in it though the quantity is considerably less than its sister shade “Shimmering Lotus,” which contained shimmer as well as glitter specks. I am not a huge fan of shimmer in any of my makeup, be it blush or lipstick, but I find the shimmer in this product to not be bothersome.  On the contrary, I feel that the shimmers really complement the glow-y finish of this blush.

This blush has sheer pigmentation, but it is easily buildable. I do find that applying two layers gives me decent pigmentation. These blushes just give you a very sheer wash of color and glow, so if you are used to heavily pigmented blushes, this product is not for you.  This blush retains some translucency on the skin hence it looks very natural and is ideal for days when you are going for a no-makeup makeup look.

Feel on skin:  These blushes have a slightly tacky feel on the skin during the initial 1-2 hours of wear, but the feeling is hardly noticeable and not too bothersome. It feels super lightweight on the skin and since it is water based, it also provides hydration which is a bonus for dry skin. It does not sink in or accentuate pores.

Staying Power:  I was quite impressed with the staying power of this product. It stayed for 4 hours on my skin before starting to fade which is quite impressive for a cream/water based blush. Though it had mostly faded by 6 hours, I could still see a hint of color on the skin. The shimmer in this blush does not linger after the blush has faded. does not slide all over the face.

Overall, I am very happy with this product and considering this is summer time, I prefer something lightweight on my skin.  This product is ideal for me as it gives me natural looking color as well as a nice dewy glowy look. I will recommend these.

  1. Both the shades are so lovely Neha. I really like the product and how innovative the formula is. Usually I don’t like shimmer but these are great.

    1. Yes this is the most innovative formula I have used in a long time. I am myself surprised I like the shimmer in this when usually I never do
