I had been toying with the idea of getting my hair colored for a very long time. After a lot of deliberation, I decided to go for coloring at home. The reason I was skeptical about salon coloring, was undoubtedly the hefty price tag (who knows I might not like it at the end!) and the fear of damage. If you have chemically untreated hair, especially dark hair, you need some chemical treatment like bleaching to hold the color steadfastly. I didn’t want to bleach my hair just to dye it in another hue, I wanted to try something easily available. I tried BBlunt and Streax, and tell you my experience and how to choose them.

My Experience with Streax Cream Hair Colour Reddish Brown:
Packaging: The small pack of this hair color houses all the components neatly. Like others, it has the image of a woman with colored hair on its carton. It consists of a developer, colorant, a pair of gloves, two sachets of conditioners, and the product info leaflet. The components are not bulky, and the kit is lightweight. It has loads of product details, so make sure you go through them really carefully.
As advisable, it’s best to do a patch test to check for irritation or allergies. I chose the color “Reddish Brown,” as I wanted to give a striking tint to my lower half of the hair. I tied my hair in a pony tail, and colored only the pony tail. One of the primary reasons to do this way was to avoid any color near my roots or scalp, I colored my hair a good 4-5 inches from the roots of the hair, well up to the tips.
The colorant and developer have to be mixed in equal proportions, and then it has to be evenly applied on the desired sections of the hair. Working with small sections is the best way to ensure that the color is distributed properly and doesn’t look patchy. It does have a strong smell, and to the best of my knowledge, this hair color is NOT ammonia free. Please correct me if I am mistaken.
I previously tried coloring with BBlunt hair color, which is a much gentler formula (with no ammonia) and my naturally brownish black hair didn’t show much color. This hair color, on the other hand, is a stronger formula (more chemicals!) and gives a better color. I shampooed with a mild shampoo after leaving my color on for 45 minutes, applied the conditioner, and prayed fervently for some red to show up.
Luckily, it does a good job of adding color to hair. If you do not color your hair on a regular basis, and want to try out some new color, you can go ahead and use this in the comfort of your home. This isn’t a good option for those who color frequently or dye their roots on a regular basis, as it might cause scalp irritation with prolonged use or accelerate hair fall.
While this color looks good, you do need a good shampoo-conditioner duo to keep it looking vibrant. This color slightly dries out hair, so good haircare products are a must.

Only for people who do NOT have damaged, chemically-treated hair and want some easy to use coloring options. Also, if you want a color for long term, don’t use this.
