Street Wear Colour Rich Lipstick Crystal Mauve

I had been using “Pomegranate Pie” from the Elle 18 colour bombs range as a daily pink lipstick for a while now, but after a while, I got a little bored of the colour. I have never really liked the packaging (it’s too plastic and absurd in my opinion, a plain black cover would have worked better) and there was this one time it had broken off as well. So, I decided to go for the next best thing: “Street Wear Colour Rich” range.

I needed a not too over-the-top pink lipstick, something that I could use every day for college without worrying about it looking out of place. The Elle 18 shade was my go-to lipstick for months; I used it as much as a lip balm when I was out. I don’t have anything against the shade, but I began to think that I should change it to a brighter pink as this one was a little dull, especially on my pigmented lips.

Crystal Mauve

The range had a lot of shades in other colours, but the SA said they just had one in a slightly brighter pink; Crystal Mauve. She swatched it on and the colour seemed to work, so I took it. I wanted something a little brighter than Pomegranate Pie and this was a perfect fit.

Price:

Rs. 160 for 3.5 g.

Packaging:

It comes in a neat, matte blue-black tube with a silver rim. The name of the brand and range is written in silver. This, I feel, they could’ve avoided. I prefer my cases to be completely text free.  It was wrapped in plastic, without a cardboard box.

My Take on Street Wear Colour Rich lipstick: Crystal Mauve

The shade is a pretty purple-based pink (hence the name), not too over the top, but not boring either. It’s a good option for everyday use and it wouldn’t be hard to integrate into an outfit. The colour is reasonably opaque in a single swipe, but you could try multiple swipes to build more colour. A single swipe can be used to just give your lips a hint of pink, like a stain. It comes on smooth and creamy, slightly on the matte side but without drying out your lips. However, it isn’t as moisturizing as the Elle 18 Colour Bombs. Overall, I like the creamy texture and the colour payoff. I prefer the more subdued packaging too. Some might find the quantity too little, but I prefer it because it’s easier to change shades frequently, in case you get bored. Transferring is a problem because it transfers like crazy, but for the price I suppose that can’t be helped. It makes an affordable, but good option for daily use, especially for college goers. It’s also got a larger range of colours as compared to Elle 18. Street Wear has rarely failed me.

Crystal Mauve

Summing it up:

Pros of Street Wear Colour Rich lipstick: Crystal Mauve

  • Good colour payoff.
  • Large range of shades.
  • Lasts for 3 hours, minimum.
  • Very affordable.
  • The packaging is better than most lipsticks in this price range.
  • The shade “Crystal Mauve” is a very wearable pink and will work with most skin tones.
  • Reasonable amount of product.

Cons of Street Wear Colour Rich lipstick: Crystal Mauve

  • Transfers very easily, requiring constant touch ups.
  • Not easily available. Nowadays, Street Wear is never available at the Revlon counters in stores like Lifestyle or Pantaloons. I find this really painful because none of my local stores stock it either.

IMBB Rating:

4/5.
