Style Guide: In Fashion Always

Things that will always be in fashion

What is the one word that comes to your mind when you hear the names Coco Chanel, Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn? It’s ‘classic’. These women were always trend setters and never fashion victims. They understood the importance of timeless fashion trends and looked upto even today as eternal beauties. They convinced us that fashion changes with every season but style lasts. Inspired from these three iconic women, here are a few things that will never be out of fashion:

style guide

The HG of fashion: Little Black Dress (LBD)

little black dress
This is one piece of garment that we cant do without. This one dress takes you through all major occasions of your life. And it is the most versatile piece of clothing ever.

Pearls

Curves

women curves
Marilyn Monroe was never conscious of her curvy figure. In fact she flaunted her curves. It is very difficult to find such role models today. Beyonce is often sheds weight on and off but almost every time it comes back. The only celebrity i can think of who comes close to loving her curvy body is Kate Winslet. She has been curvy since the start of her career and manages to look flawless in every role as her curvy self.

Denims

fashion denims
Yes it is true. Denims will never die. The evergreen denim blue jeans will always be in fashion. Denims reinvent themselves season after season in terms of forms and trends but the fabric has become our life. Denims can be cute or badass, simple or dressy, rocker chic or nerdy, practically anything you want it to be. Thanks to rebel without a cause jeans became a pop culture symbol and a fashion essential.

Embracing Your Flaws

imperfect flaws
Yes nothing is more ‘you’ than your ‘flaws’. Nobody is perfect and even Aishwarya Rai has got done cosmetic surgeries done. But what makes you a diva is when you embrace and flaunt your flaws. Think how about Madonna’s teeth gap and Diana Ross’ big eyes. The fact that these women are comfortable in their skin makes them all the more stylish.

Approval and Identity

The way you dress up says a lot about the person you are. We all dress up in a certain way to portray a certain identity of ourselves. However, this should not have to do anything with seeking approval from others. It has everything to do from seeking approval from yourself. You are most fashionable when you are yourself and not when you starve to fit into a dress that your friends like on you.

Dressing Your Age

dress your age
I am a firm believer of ‘age is just a number’. Nothing should stop a woman in her fifties to wear a pink bikini but only if she can carry it off. Dressing too young can make you look older than you are. However this is not to say that once you are older you should start dressing up like your mother. Your sense of style can remain the same, but as you age you have to update your style to highlight, and also to show off, your maturity. Your style reflects you, and as you age, you should become more of yourself.

Grooming Yourself

personal grooming
Dirty nails, chipped nail paint and peeled heels are always a turn off. Take time to groom yourself. Make sure you are taking care of your skin, your hair, your oral hygiene.

Smile

smile
The most expensive clothes, jewellery, make up will look ordinary if you are not confident with who you are. Smile and let the world know that you love yourself just the way you are. A smile takes your outfit to another level. This is the best accessory to have.
