I’m a little obsessed with kajals, and I’m always on the lookout to try new ones. I’ve tried Maybelline Colossal Kajal, Lakme Eyeconic Kajal, Lakme Absolute Kohl Ultimate Kajal, Colorbar Just Smoky Kajal – Just Black, Colorbar Just Smoky Kajal – Just Black, Sugar Twist and Shout Fadeproof Kajal – Black Velvet, and here I’m with another kajal from Sugar Cosmetics called the Stroke of Genius Heavy-Duty Kohl. The shade name is ’01 Back to Black’ and let me tell you how it fared for me.

My Experience with Sugar Cosmetics 01 Back to Black Stroke of Genius Heavy-Duty Kohl:

Before I say anything else, I simply LOVE this kohl. Firstly, the packaging of all Sugar products is so chic. This one comes in a printed cardboard box, the body of the kohl has a matte finish (drooling over it) and the cap has a satin finish. They complement each other very well. The logo and brand name is printed on one side and the other side has the name of the product. Initially, the tip is sharp and pointed. The kohl comes with a sharpener which can be used to sharpen the tip. The tip lasts for 4-5 uses after which it can be sharpened. There is product wastage when sharpened, but the quality of the kohl makes up for it.

On a single swipe, it leaves a highly pigmented black colour. The formula is so smooth and creamy; it’s almost dreamy. It is not exactly waterproof and smudge-proof. If you touch your eyes with your fingers, it’ll smudge. If you don’t touch, it does not smudge at all. If your eyes are under high pressure water flow, the kajal will bleed a little. It is super-duper creamy, this was bound to happen. It requires a lot of effort and makeup remover to get the kajal off. It stays on for a good 7-8 hours and I have watery eyes and kajals do not stay on for very long. It starts to fade a little after 3 hours but then it stays intact.

I usually keep 2 kajals; one with the twist body and another a kohl or a long staying kajal. I keep the twist one as I don’t always have enough time to sharpen and I just can’t walk out without a kajal on my eyes. I find the kajal adequately priced; I got the product for 449 INR.

EOTD:
I’ve used the Makeup Revolution Essential Mattes 2 Redemption Palette on my eyelids, used the kajal on my waterline and upper lash line, and finished off with Inglot Long and Curly Mascara.
