My Experience with Sugar Cosmetics Smudge Me Not Liquid Lipstick 10 Drop Dead Red:
Packaging: Love the way Sugar cosmetic products come packed in graphic boxes. It looks like something from Prisma app. The liquid lipstick comes in a small clear bottle with a black cap. The applicator is suspended from the cap. It has a good applicator and helps in easy application, but it picks up a little more product than actually desired. The name and the number of the shade is mentioned on the bottle itself. Now the name of the shade is also mentioned on the outer box.
Shade: They have around 10 shades in this range and I find the shades very close to each other and mostly in the house of reds and browns. “Drop Dead Red” is a gorgeous-looking brick red shade. A shade that will flatter the Indian skin tones perfectly. It is a versatile shade meant for all ages, be it daytime or the nighttime – this shade looks pretty. It has a slight orangey tint under sunlight, but will look a darker brownish-red shade if multiple coats are applied. It is an absolute matte shade with no glitter or glossiness at all.
Texture and Pigmentation: “Smudge me not” liquid lipsticks are very close to being liquid in texture. They are not watery liquid but liquid enough for easy application. It looks wet and bright during application but then settles to a complete matte finish once it is dry. You may notice that it looks brighter when freshly applied. It does not tug or pull actually while application but I wish it was a little more smooth. Now, these do dry up quickly and so one has to be very careful while applying as any mistake committed would be a pain to rectify. It actually gives a powdery finish and look.
The pigmentation of “Drop Dead Red” is super amazing and just a little product is required to cover the lips. One application is enough. The application is not streaky but if the liquid lipstick is applied with many strokes, then it looks darker on certain parts of the lips. Although the liquid lipstick feels a little sticky during application, the sticky feeling will not last for long. Now since it dries so quickly, you cannot rub your lips together like we generally do with others lipsticks as it makes the whole look patchier. Layering does not feel heavy, but the entire lipstick experience on my lips felt a bit strange. Also, this lipstick makes my lips super dry, so I do apply a lip balm beneath which helped me to some extent. Do not ever forget to scrub your lips if your going to use these liquid lipsticks. It will cling on the rough patches and make it even more evident. It settles into the fine lines of the lips.
Lasting Power: These smudge me not liquid lipsticks have taken their name way too seriously. They would just not smudge come what may. They stay put all day long. I tried using water-based makeup remover and it did not budge. I had to use an oil-based one and then that too took some time to get rid of the stain. If you have heavy oily food, then it will start to get lighter in the middle of the lips.
From the three shades that I own from Sugar cosmetics Smudge Me Not range, I like this one more.
