My Experience with Sugar Cosmetics Suede Secret Matte Lipcolour 08 Brocade Burgundy:

Let’s start with the packaging of the product. The liquid lipstick comes in a cardboard carton having signature Sugar prints on it. The lipstick comes in a squarely shaped see-through packaging, which helps to spot the shade quickly from makeup stash. The shade name is mentioned at the base of the tube and also on the outer carton.

The tube closes securely with a regular screw on cap, which fits nicely, making it leak proof and travel-friendly. There is an applicator attached to the cap. The applicator is typical doe foot type. Its wand is long and helps to apply the lipstick easily. Overall, the packaging is basic and travel-friendly.

The shade ‘Brocade Burgundy’ is a gorgeous deep burgundy color. This shade is flattering for all Indian skin tones. And it is best suited for medium to deep skin tones. It might look too vampy on very fair skin tones. This is not an everyday shade. And a proper base is needed to flatter such shades. It is a lovely shade for parties and weddings. It instantly brightens up the face and enhances the entire look.

The lipstick is super matte and looks classy on the lips. Once it sets, it sets to a perfect matte finish. There is no significant sheen or shimmer in this lipstick. The formula is insanely pigmented. One swipe of this lipstick gives an opaque finish to the lips. I apply a second coat to even out the edges and make the lipstick look even. So, I am quite impressed with the color pay off. It completely hides lip pigmentation in one go. Most of the deeper shades tend to get patchy and look deeper at some places. But, this one looks nice and even on the lips.

The texture of the lipstick is thin but not too watery. Hence, it glides effortlessly on the lips without any dragging. It spreads so easily and does not take much time in covering the lips. The formulation does not set too quickly, so it gives enough time to apply the lipstick nicely. It takes around one minute to dry out completely and set to a perfect matte finish. The formula is lightweight and feels comfortable on the lips.

It does not have the tendency to crumble. And it does not have streaking issues. It does not settle into the fine lines of the lips. The lipstick is absolutely waterproof and smudge-proof. It does not transfer at all. It even survives a heavy meal with minimal fading from the centre. It does not dry out the lips. But, it does not highlight dry patches of the lips, so it is necessary to prep the lips for smoother and beautiful looking lips.

The lasting power is good; it lasts easily for 5-6 hours on my lips, which is pretty decent for a drugstore brand. The color looks fresh and intense all the time. It does not smear at all. Removing the lipstick is slightly difficult; it needs a good makeup remover to remove it perfectly.
