Koreans are world renowned for their innovative skin care products and the 10-step skin care routine. Lately, I have been obsessed with Korean skin care products and been using a variety of Korean brands. My latest love has been from the brand Sulwhasoo which a luxury skincare brand along similar lines of AmorePacific. Read on to know more about my first purchase from this brand, the Sulwhasoo Overnight Vitalizing Mask.
About the Product:
Reawaken skin’s natural glow as you rest with Sulwhasoo Overnight Vitalizing Mask, a nourishing treatment that utilizes walnut extract to create an essential moisture layer on your skin, promoting optimal absorption of ingredients. White mulberry extract minimizes redness and irritation and hyaluronic acid promotes long-term hydration, restoring and revitalizing your skin overnight.
How to Use:
Use nightly as needed to provide extra moisture while sleeping. Smooth it over skin generously as the last step in your evening skincare regimen. Rinse in the morning.
My Experience with Sulwhasoo Overnight Vitalizing Mask:
I am particularly impressed with the packaging. It has an air of elegance and luxury. The cap is plastic but has a look of polished wood. The squeeze tube dispenser works very well with the consistency of the product and allows for control dispersal.
This mask has a very thick, creamy-rich consistency but surprisingly it is not too heavy or greasy on the skin. Considering the fact that this is an overnight “mask”, I was under the impression that it would sit on top of my skin, hence there might be a possibility of waking up to it smeared all over my pillows. But, that was not the case! This mask gets absorbed completely by the skin within a minute which took me by surprise considering how thick it is. It leaves no greasy, oily residue on the skin, but you feel the suppleness and smoothness of your skin almost immediately.
Usage & Application:
I use a hazelnut sized amount for my whole face per application, hence this generous bottle will last you a decent amount of time. I find I can use this face mask every night without the worry of it being too heavy or clogging my skin. But, for the fear of running out, I use this 2-3 times a week and the results have been great. I think even oily skin can use it, provided you use it sparingly.
This mask is supposed to be used as a last step in your skincare routine. But on days I am feeling particularly lazy, I will just add this on top of a serum or even just on its own as it gives me all the benefits I need for my dry, parched skin.
It does have a moderately strong herbal scent. I find it to be calming and not overpowering, but if you are particularly sensitive to scents or prefer fragrance-free products, you might not like this.
Long Term Results:
I have been using this mask for over a month now and I am very happy with it. It is a great product for days when my skin is very dry, dehydrated and lackluster. It thoroughly nourishes my skin overnight and I wake up to baby soft skin. It is recommended that you do not wash this off with a foaming cleanser in the morning, which when I do I find my skin is on its best behavior the next day. There will be considerably less dry patches, my makeup applies smoothly and sits nicely on my skin. I have also noticed that my face does not look as puffy in the morning when I use this the night before.
I have not noticed any extra visible radiance/glow on my skin or any reduction in dark spots or a difference in pores (all of which it does not claim to do), it does improve just the overall state of my skin with regular use. I would term this more as an occasional deep conditioning treatment (like your do for your hair) but for your face instead. Definitely not a must-have for the price and the limited benefits, but it does give your skin some extra pampering which your skin will thank you for.
