Hello everyone!
This review will be on the next product from my skincare haul. This product is a fairly new release by the brand Sunday Riley. It’s the Luna Sleeping Night oil.
About the product:
A next-generation retinoid oil to reduce pore size, improve appearance of damaged skin, and help fight wrinkles.
What it is formulated to do:
With an advanced retinol complex, Luna helps reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles while simultaneously correcting damage caused by the sun, time, and pollution. Use this oil before bed to notice firmer, clearer skin by morning. Trans-retinol ester fights the look of fine lines, wrinkles, and loss of skin elasticity while an essential oil complex calms and soothes skin. Cold pressed avocado, chia, and Concord grape seed oils sink into skin for quick absorption of actives while boosting radiance.
What it is formulated WITHOUT:
– Parabens
– Sulfates
– Phthalates
What else you need to know:
This product is made with organic, cold pressed oils. Advanced trans-retinoic acid ester is mixed with potent botanicals for the ultimate transformational, sleeping night oil.
Price:
$105 for 1 oz
My Experience with Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil:
Packaging:
This product comes packaged beautifully in a sturdy cardboard box with a removable boxed lid cover. The bottle is a heavy glass bottle and has a dropper dispenser which is perfect for a product like this.
Consistency and Feel on Skin:
This is a similar consistency of runny oil. I use 3 drops every night and that is enough cover my face and parts of my neck. I put it in the palm of my hands, warm it up by rubbing and dab it over my skin. This oil gets applied very smoothly and has a slightly slippery feel on the skin. It does not get absorbed immediately, but it does feel comfortable on the skin and does not feel greasy or sticky. It is very lightweight.
This oil gives a dewy look to the skin, but that is not bothersome since I use it before bed. This oil has a strong blue color which disappears as you rub it into the skin. No worry of ending up looking like a smurf! 😛
Results:
The reason why I was so attracted to this product is enough to justify the amount I have spent on this – retinoid oil. I always wanted to incorporate retinol which has powerful anti ageing properties in my skincare routine and have even tried and failed at that in the past as retinol products are very strong for my dry skin and cause extreme dryness and flakiness. I am very pleased with this product in that aspect as it has never caused any sort of dryness on my skin. On the contrary, this oil actually combats dryness. Every night I top this oil over my Peter Thomas Roth Glycolic Acid 10% Hydrating Gel which did cause some dryness on my skin and this oil very effectively deals with that problem.
This oil claims to correct damage caused by environment and to fight the look of wrinkles, fine lines and pores. Though I do have fairly good skin to begin with (thank God) and the only issues I face are some hyperpigmentation left by past acne and some fine lines (smile lines) and some pores around my nose. I did not see exceptional difference in my skin in terms of anti ageing benefits that this product claims to deliver, but I have only been using this for the past 5-6 weeks. I might have to use this consistently for months to see real difference. Even if this product helps keep my skin firm and supple (which it does) and helps prevent future wrinkles, this will be good enough for me as when it comes to anti ageing; I believe prevention is always better than the cure.
I see my skin feeling a lot firmer and supple and soft my morning after using this, my smile lines doe seem less prominent. My skin looks even, radiant and it calms down any irritation I might have. I find the mix of all the organic cold pressed oils combating dryness which is my main issue.
Fragrance:
This product has a medicine/herbal scent which is not appealing, but it is not bothersome either and it disappears after 5-10 minutes.
Overall:
This is a fantastic product for those who want to incorporate Retinol in their skin care routine, but are afraid of the side effects of that. Though I am yet to see the amazing anti-ageing benefits this product delivers, the fact that this keeps my skin hydrated, supple and soft pleases me and hence I will recommend this.
Pros of Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil:
• Delivers the benefits of a retinol product without the side effects
• Does not dry out my skin at all
• Makes my skin soft and supple my morning
• My skin looks more even toned and radiant
• Contains loads of organic cold pressed oil
Cons of Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil:
• Expensive
• This product should not be used if you are pregnant which can be a con as most of us ladies do not know right off the bat when we get pregnant
• Though it is not greasy, I am unsure if this product will suit oily skin

Lovely review and the Smurf reference had me in fits! 😀 Anything blue always reminds me of blueberries and Violet from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
This is the first review of a Sunday Riley product on any beauty blog or website, so happy this brand has made its debut here 🙂
Really? That’s awesome! 🙂
Hehehe…that smurf reference! 😛 I really the way it is packaged, looks classy. I also have dry skin and I make sure I moisturise my skin well before going to bed, especially in an AC room. Well reviewed as always Neha 🙂
I love how just a few drops give so much hydration to my dry skin as well..
Wow, this seems like a good product! My cousin has been using this for a while now and she likes it a lot too. I have a couple more years to go before I introduce an anti-ageing product in my regimen! And the Smurf thing made me laugh a lot too!
Yeah this would be a good product to start product and as they say its never too early when it comes to anti ageing
