Sunsilk Keratinology Detoxifying Shampoo

Hey Gals,

I am back and reviewing Sunsilk Keratinology’s Detoxifying Shampoo today for you all. Sunsilk launched its “Keratinology” range a few months ago and as far as I know this range became an instant hit! Sunsilk’s Keratinology has two ranges – Advanced Reconstruction for dry and damaged hair and Sun Kissed Color Therapy for colored hair.

Sunsilk Keratinology Detoxifying Shampoo

Product Description:

Beautiful shiny and healthy hair is every girl’s dream. And what better than going to the salon to get that WOW look! So we straighten, colour or perm our hair to look good and feel great! Unfortunately with busy lifestyles, the daily stress of hair styling and elements like pollution and humidity, the beauty of salon treated hair begins to fade.  Keratinology by Sunsilk is the latest hair care innovation specially designed to prolong the beauty of salon treated hair. Each product range works in harmony with your specific salon style and treatment. Developed with Keratin Micro Technology, this range intensively nourishes and reconstructs hair. So, you can keep your salon-treated hair looking beautiful for longer.

My Take on Sunsilk Keratinology Detoxifying Shampoo:

I got this shampoo as I have quite dry and damaged hair and honestly, I was tired of Dove shampoos and conditioners and guess was looking for a change! Firstly, I really love the packaging! Its quite classy! The shampoo is golden creamy in colour and smells absolutely divine!! It lathers pretty well and effectively and cleans hair of all dirt and oil. I have used this shampoo on my oiled hair as well and it does remove oil completely though not in one wash! But then, for me no shampoo has ever removed oil from my hair in one wash itself, so I would not take it as a con!

It did not cause any hair fall for me and in fact, I found the hair fall to be less as compared to when I use my Dove shampoo, so totally love it for that aspect! The only problem is that this shampoo does not work on its own! If used alone without the conditioner, it does not work on dry and frizzy hair much. It does not make it further dry but neither does it make my hair soft and silky, but I think that job is better left to conditioner!

Also, I have not seen any improvement on my split ends either; not that it claims to work on them, but then neither does it repair my dry and damaged hair.  I am hoping that with continuous use, it will definitely improve the texture of my hair making it more manageable and healthy!

When used along with conditioner, its perfect! Review of the conditioner is coming up soon!

I have been using this shampoo for around 1.5 months and just finished the bottle a couple of days back, so its definitely worth the price! The bottle is quite sturdy and I don’t see it a problem for travelling as well. Repeating again the smell is to die for! Its probably the best fragrance ever I have encountered in shampoos till date and it leaves my hair smelling divine! Totally love it!

Pros of Sunsilk Keratinology Detoxifying Shampoo:

  • Smells divine!!!
  • Lathers pretty well and effectively cleans the scalp and hair free of oil and dirt.
  • Packaging is nice.
  • Price and quantity are justified.

Cons of Sunsilk Keratinology Detoxifying Shampoo:

  • Does not help in taming frizzy hair.
  • Does have loads of chemicals 🙁

IMBB Rating:

3.5 out of 5

All in all, a decent shampoo and effectively cleans hair and does not further dry out hair! Hope this review was helpful, until next time, take care!

  1. I so wanted to order it Parita.. But then the ingredients list is scaring me.. Now I just want some hair products free from silicones and sulphates ..
Ur review was on time.. Thank u dear 😉

  2. I also want to use shampoos free from harmful ingredients.Though i wanted to purchase this shampoo when it was launched but it contains silicons and sulphates which will harm my hair in the long run.:(
So i have promised myself to stay away from these chemicals.:D
But its a nice review.:)) Very nicely explained..:D

  3. nice review!!!! i am using the TBS rainforest shine shampoo and conditioner … the shampoo is good but the conditioner does nothing 🙁 pl review the conditioner soon …

  4. I have used the conditioner from this and u r right it smells divine , i m into dove shampoos n conditionrs n will get this for a change

  5. This doesn’t work without conditioner :spank:Spank very bad. Khadi shampoos are free from Silicons…Currently I am using biotique one..hoping that it was also silicon free ??? dont knw.

    1. no idea about biotique neha as i have never used but i think khadi shampoos are free of silicons but honestly khadi shampoos dont work for me 🙁

    2. Is it neha????????? I m really looking for a silicon free shampoo, if you have used khadi ones, can you please check once if the whole ingredient list is mentioned and no silicon there???please for me… ::worried::

      1. I havent used khadi yet but it order when my biotique got finished.

Dipanwita you can see the ingredient list on online websites where it is available e.g. goodlife etc but being a natural product it may or it may not worked for you.

  6. hiii..glad to see a Sunsilk Keratinology shampoo review and even gladder (if such a word even exists :)) to know its pretty decent. since i colored (streaked) my hair few days ago was tempted to buy the Sunsilk Keratinology color treated hair shampoo so i am assuming that since this shampoo is good, even the color one wud be good..:)

  7. I have used so many sunsilk shampoos in past and guess during college days those were my fav. This sounds okay. nothing, as you mentioned , convincing though. WIll wait for your conditioner review. Good pics and great review. :))

  8. I want to smell it!! I m a sucker for fragrant shampoos but I can see that its quite opaque nd the more opaque a shampoo is, the more chemicals it has

    1. sunsilk has marketed the product also by saying specially designed for salon treated hair 🙂 detoxifying is nothing but removal of dirt n impurities and making the hair ready for next step ie conditioning!

  9. i love sunsilk shampoos because of their fragrance actually, haven’t tried this one, but doesn’t seem like a must have either…i may get a chotu pack for the divine smell 😛 😛

  10. i so loved the review and wanted to buy it so i almost ordered online but its ingredients has “sodium laureth sulfate” 🙁
    it causes hairloss with time

  11. I started using this shampoo a month ago, I have oily hair and someone told me this shampoo is really good. It made my hair soft but it didn’t remove oil, also it made my hair thin.I am really disappointed.I would rate this 1.5 out of 5
