A bad hair day completely ruins our outfit. Every girl desires to have beautiful tresses, but not everyone is lucky to have them. I have really thin hair; no matter what I wear I am always conscious about my hair. No amount of shampooing, oiling, deep conditioning has helped so far. So now I have resorted to natural ingredients. I have improved my diet a little too. I will not say that it has helped me tremendously, but yes my hair fall has decreased and that’s a first step. So, here is a list of few great ingredients that you can also incorporate in your diet. And trust me they work!
Almonds have manganese and vitamin E. Magnesium is an essential mineral for growth of healthy strands. You can just eat these healthy nuts in moderation or you can apply almond oil to your hair. Just massage your scalp with almond oil once or twice a week, it’s a great moisturizing treatment for your hair and this oil gently smoothes the hair cuticles and nourishes the scalp.
We ladies use yogurt in so many hair and skin DIYs. It has so many health benefits as it is rich in proteins and lactic acid that is beneficial to treat dull and damaged hair. Just mix together yogurt and some ground methi seeds and apply it on your scalp regularly. Leave it on for 45 minutes before you wash it off. This is a great treatment to reduce hair fall. I have been using this from last 2 months, once a week and it has really helped.
And if you suffer from dandruff issues you can just directly apply yogurt on your scalp and leave it on for about 40 minutes before you rinse it off with a mild shampoo.
I really like beans and love to eat them. Beans come in so many different types and sizes and they are really good for our hair as they contain protein, iron, zinc, and biotin. Biotin is really important to people with brittle hair. So the best way to incorporate beans is have them in your diet.
I love Mangoes and whenever I have used mango in any DIY, I have ended up eating most of the mango wala part. 🙂 Apart from that, mangoes are a great nourishing fruit for your hair. It also promotes hair growth. Here’s how to make a mango mask. Take half mango pulp and add yogurt, honey and olive oil in a blender. Make a paste. And apply this paste on your hair for half an hour and wash your hair with a shampoo after that. This mask is especially beneficial for girls with dry hair, as it’s extremely nourishing.
Although being a vegetarian, I have never touched any egg in my life. But few of my friends vouch by egg white for their hair treatments. Egg masks give your hair that much needed shine and strength. Let’s find out how to make one.
Ingredients: Egg white – from 1-2 eggs, Olive oil- 1 tbsp and Honey- 1 tbsp.
Mix them together and apply on your scalp. Cover it with shower cap for about 20-30 minutes. Wash it off with mild shampoo.
Carrots are a rich in Vitamin B7 or Biotin, which is great for tresses. Biotin also strengthens hair roots, hence less hair fall! Best way to use carrots is to make a paste and use on your strands.
How to make carrot mask?
Just boil some carrots and blend them. Use the same boiling water of carrots to adjust the consistency of the blended carrot’s paste.
Apply this paste on your hair for about 45 minutes and then rinse it off with a mild shampoo. Continuous usage of this mask reduces hair fall and gives you strong hair.
Everyone must have used amla in their hair treatments. Amla prevents premature greying of hair, prevents breakage and hair loss; it’s oil helps in stronger growth of hair follicles. You can easily make amla oil at home. Just cut amla in small pieces and let it dry. And make a powder out of it. Next step is to combine 2 tbsp powder and 6 tbsp pure coconut oil in a pan and boil them for 3-4 with continuous stirring. Strain this oil and store it in a bottle. Your natural homemade amla oil is ready.
Onions are rich in sulfur; Onion juices when applied on the scalp can improve the blood circulation to the scalp. Onion juice increases the strength of the hair and prevents thinning of hair.
DIY: onion juice and honey mixture:
Mix ¼ cup of onion juice with 1 tbsp of honey. Apply this mixture daily on the scalp and massage it for 15 minutes. And you will yourself notice considerable difference in your hair quality in few weeks time.
Honey is anti-bacterial and also contains vitamins and minerals. It’s very moisturizing and has several healing properties. Honey is a great product to use on your hair, if used properly it makes the hair follicles healthy by attracting moisture and boosts the hair growth. You can use honey in so many ways. One way to use honey is just take honey and olive oil in 2:1 ratio and heat and mix them and let this mixture cool down. Apply this properly on your hair from root to tip. Cover your hair with a shower cap and wash after about 30 minutes with normal water.
All of these DIYs work really well. Do give them a try.
