Superfacialist By Una Brennan Vitamin C+ Brighten Skin Renew Cleansing Oil Review

I know it’s really late but I hope everyone had a great new year’s and Christmas! I hope that 2015 will be a great year for everyone.

I’m going to kick things off with my first review of the year, which will be the “Superfacialist Vitamin C+ Skin Renew Cleansing Oil By Una Brennan”.

Superfacialist Vitamin C+ Skin Renew Cleansing Oil By Una Brennan Review

I have already reviewed a product from this brand earlier, it was the Superfacialist Rose Hydrate Cleanser and I really liked it.

I had mentioned in that review that the brand has different ranges designed to target different skin issues. At the moment, I have really bad hyperpigmentation and scarring on my face. So, I decided to try this Vitamin C+ Skin Renew Cleansing Oil, which has been designed to have brightening, anti-ageing and smoothing effects on the skin.

The Vitamin C range also contains other products, including an eye cream for dark circles, a daily moisturizer, a serum, a facial scrub (micro polish wash) and radiance capsules.

Keep reading to know my final thoughts about the product!

My Experience with Superfacialist Vitamin C+ Skin Renew Cleansing Oil By Una Brennan:

Going by the hype and all the good reviews that I had heard about cleaning oils, I really wanted to try one since I had never tried one before. Cleansing oils have worked for so many people and they also benefit the skin in many ways. It is a common myth that if you have oily skin, you shouldn’t put oil on top of it, but that is actually a misconception.

There are certain oils that don’t break you out but in fact they leave the skin feeling moisturised and hydrated. Sometimes, people use really harsh products to get rid of the excess oil on their face. This actually has a detrimental effect on the skin; it may work short term in removing oil from the face but, what happens is that the skin is left feeling very tight and dry and to make up for this, the skin produces even more oil, which leads to even more breakouts.

I have used this product a few times now, but not long enough to notice any significant effect on my hyperpigmentation or scars. Even though, I have noticed some benefits as a result of using this product, I have also noticed that my skin reacts to this oil in a negative way as well.

Packaging: The product comes in a clear, 200 ml plastic bottle and the product is dispersed from a small hole at top. I don’t really like the way you need to handle the bottle to get the product because it gets really messy and I find that sometimes I squirt too much product out which wastes it. I think that a pump would have been better for this product. A lot of cleansing oils have a nozzle pump and I think that is much more practical for an oil as it prevents wastage and mess.

Smell: The product’s smell is citrus based, which is not surprising as it has Vitamin C in it. The scent is quite fresh and subtle and not overpowering at all.

The oil isn’t cheap, especially since I purchased it from a drug store. But, I think for the amount of product that comes in the bottle, it has been priced pretty decently and it is also more affordable than other high end products.

Results: I think it has had pretty good effects on it. It leaves my skin feeling very supple and hydrated and also smoother. I’m not sure about the removal of face makeup because I have not tried it on my face yet. But, it removes eye makeup moderately well, though, not brilliantly.

I like to apply the oil onto dry skin, massage it in and then wash it off with water. Once the oil gets into contact with water, it turns milky and that makes it easier to wash off. My skin isn’t left feeling oily at all.

However, I must point out that this product has given me break-outs. I have no idea if this is due to the oil but after using it, I did get two spots on my cheek and I am experiencing a nasty breakout on my chin.

I really don’t want to give up on using this product because I like how it leaves my skin feeling, however, if I continue to get breakouts I might stop using it.

I have a very sensitive skin that reacts to a lot of things. The oil has olive oil in it- olive oil is highly comedogenic and can lead to breakouts. I guess that might be the reason why I have got breakouts from this cleansing oil.

So, I’m pretty demented with this product. It leaves my skin feeling good but it has given my breakouts also.

I don’t think I have used this oil long enough to report on its long term effects but, I will definitely get back to you about whether I decided to keep using this oil.

Would I Repurchase Superfacialist Vitamin C+ Skin Renew Cleansing Oil By Una Brennan?

I don’t think so because I would like to try other cleansing oils.

IMBB Rating:

3.5/5

Conclusion:

Overall, I think the product is good but I have deducted a few points from the rating because of the fact that gave me breakouts. However, I do like the way it leaves my skin feeling and I will continue to use this product to see whether my skin gets adjusted to it or not. I now understand why there is such a big hype around cleansing oils because they really do leave the skin feeling great.

Perhaps, if I try another cleansing oil, I might not experience any breakouts. I just find it embarrassing that my super sensitive skin always affects my experience with products; products that might otherwise, don’t necessarily work on my skin.

I hope you enjoyed my review, as always I am honest with my opinions and I always like giving everyone a full detailed description so that they can be certain about whether they want to buy a product or not.

Thanks for reading my review and I hope to be back soon with another one!
