Hello IMBBians,
Eyes are the mirror of your health and beauty. Simple makeup on eyes can create wonders and enhance your beauty. Many a times when we have a beauty regime, we concentrate so much on the rest of our face and forget about eyes. But our eyes do need some extra care and below are few steps for the day and night which can keep your eyes beautiful and healthy. So read on!

Taking Care of Your Eyes the Natural Way – Day and Night!

Day care:

For working women, mornings are always a rush. With little time, you can hardly concentrate on the eye makeup other than dabbing on some kajal, eyeliner and mascara. But, in the morning all you need is a minute more to concentrate on your eyes. Once you wash your face, splash some cold water on your eyes gently. Apply aloe vera gel or an undereye cream and with your ring finger rub gently and then go ahead with the concealer/foundation and the makeup on.

Exercise for your eyes during work:

exercise
If you sit for long staring at your computer, then your eyes would be constantly strained. You can follow the easy exercises:
Blink: Make a point to blink your eyes once in every 30 secs. Some people are so addicted to the computer or the work they are doing that they forget to blink! And this is a simple exercise that keeps lubricating your eyes.
20-20-20 rule: This rule is simple, every 20 minutes you see an object more than 20 ft away for 20 seconds. This will improve your eyesight.
Drawing 8 and 0 on your eyes: If you do not have a problem with the eyeliner/eyeshadow smudging, then follow this procedure. Draw a sleeping 8 where the 2 zeroes cover the 2 eyes and draw 0 on each of your eye for 10 counts. This strengthens the muscle around the eyes.
Alternate finger: Keep your fingers (except the thumb) on your eyes and alternatively remove each of your fingers after 5 seconds and do this 5 times. This relaxes the eyes and reduces tiredness.

Night care:

remove makeup
Before you wash your face, remove the makeup on the eyes and face using a makeup remover. For a better alternative, you can do castor oil/coconut oil massage around the eyes and remove the makeup with a cotton pad or a light cloth. Be gentle. Then wash your face and splash some water on your eyes.

You can exfoliate twice in a week. Below are two recipes which have worked for me:

  • Yoghurt + Lemon: Dip a cotton round in the mixture and gentle rub in a circular motion around the eyes. Yoghurt contains lactic acid and is mild and helps in removing dead skin cells and softens the skin undereye. Lemon has Vitamin C and citric acid that reduces the darkness around eye.

  • Honey + Jaggery: This is one of the best remedies I came across. With the earlier one, I had a bit of tingling sensation and as it is undereye, it was uncomfortable even though it gave good results. In this one, both the ingredients contain glycolic acid and they help in exfoliation, reducing the dark circles, removing excess oil production and moisturizing the undereye area.

Once done with exfoliation, you can use an oil pack like a moisturizer and mask. You can mix olive oil and vitamin E oil with a little bit of aloe vera gel and gently massage the eye area for 1 minute. This will help in reducing the fine lines around your eyes and moisturize the eye area making it look healthy. Then once the skin absorbs the oil, you can proceed with an eye cream or you can leave it just like that.

These are some simple steps that would give fabulous results; as they are all natural, it will take time but there will be no side effects.
