How to Tame Frizzy Hair – Top Tips

How to Tame Frizzy Hair Top Tips

I think curly hair could be a bit of a trouble to maintain, but it is not essentially true that only curly hair face the frizz.I have some friends from school who have super thick and frizzy hair but somehow they are very shiny and jet black, one of them says she uses flat beer regularly.

How to tame frizzy hair

Let us take a look at the basic factors that make your hair frizzy. When the hair’s moisture and natural oils are ripped off, it gets frizzy. Genetics can also play a big role in the kind of hair you have. Then factors like hot tool abuse and overuse of styling tools and of course humidity also play a role.Beyond these factors, using a wrong hair product that is not meant for your hair type also makes a difference in exacerbating the frizz issue.

I know this from personal experience, living in the south or close to the equator where humidity is higher affects how your hair behave. Humidity, moisture in the air causes hair cuticle to relax, as a result the moisture reaches the middle layer of a hair strand – cortex. This causes uneven swelling making the hair look frizzy.

Take a look at some tips you could inculcate in your everyday life to tame down frizz 🙂

Contrary to what you know about brushing hair only when dry, people with frizzy hair should not brush hair when dry, so it when it is wet so it stays tamed. This is true that combing hair when wet makes it prone to breakage but this is best suggested for frizz.

This is a quick tip, take a regular moisture lotion or a little protein rich conditioner and dilute it a little with water and then rub the product on the frizzier hair ends to keep them tame and reduce the volume.

Pick up products with protein, make sure your shampoo says meant for frizzy hair and it contains protein, stick to those till you see some results.

After shampooing, use serum on your wet hair, rub a little amount on your palms and then run fingers evenly on your hair, this adds shine and is a must-do for dry hair, then you can comb through wet hair like mentioned above.

Have you heard of this one? As a last rinse, use carbonated water (soda) to tame frizz as it is lower in ph levels.

If you are out and dont have a lotion handy, run wet fingers through your hair on a humid day, this would tame frizz only for a while.

Natural oils rich in vitamin E and Argan oil help hair with static, frizz and also add shine to the hair apart from lasting longer.

Make sure your hair products do not contain alcohol, check the label.

If at all you have to use a blow dryer, use one with a diffuser attachment and use the lowest heat setting. Use the diffuser on the roots and leave the ends to air dry. Do not brush after that.

Beer is a great last rinse too, use darker beers which will also add shine, rinse and let it sit in your hair for a few minutes then use a cold rinse to get rid of the smell. This always works.

As a last rinse, you could also use equal portions of apple cider and vinegar to tame frizz.

Mix 1 cup of mayonnaise with 1/2 avocado and blend to a thick paste. Rub it on the hair strands. Wrap a hot towel around it. Leave it on for 20 minutes and wash. Do it once a week.

Thrice a week, take equal portions of olive and coconut oil ( we all have it at home), heat it a bit and massage the hair and roots, cover with a shower cap or hot towel for 30 mins, shampoo and rinse.

Try using 1/4 cup almond oil and one egg mix and keep it on for 30 minutes, rinse off.

You could also use a banana mask like this one..
