Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Buff Review

Hello friends!

How are you doing today? I am here to share my first blush experience with you all which was a surprise gift from my hubby. He brought it along with a few more goodies to surprise me during our stay in India. However, I am more confused, as usual, about it. 😛 Thankfully, he picked Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush which offers amazing quantity and quality. I am not sure about this shade, but I am highly impressed with its texture, staying power and the finish that it imparts on the skin. So, let’s get started with the review and know more about this blush.

Product Description:

What it is:
A long-wearing, solar-baked blush that lasts up to 12 hours.

What it does:
Infused with natural clay harvested from the banks of the Amazon River and naturally baked by the sun, this nutrient-rich blush benefits all skin types for a fade-free flawless finish that lasts an amazing 12 hours. Inspired by tarte’s best selling shades of cheek stains and lip tints, the colors range from soft to vivid to suit a wide variety of skin tones.

For oily skin types, Amazonian clay minimizes oil in and around pores to balance skin and keep product in place. Those with dry skin will benefit from the clay’s nourishing and hydrating properties, which naturally restore skin’s moisture. Combination skin types can rely on its ability to zero in on skin concerns and deliver benefits to restore complexion harmony.

The result: Blush that wears better, longer, and truer.

My Experience with Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Buff:

Well, I don’t know what made him (hubby) select this shimmering beige ‘Buff’ shade out of all colorful shades! Upon asking, he simply replied that since I always wear loud shades, he wanted me to try more soft and nude makeup. 😛 Guess he does pay attention to my looks to reach such conclusion! 😀

Anyway, I liked its sleek and sturdy packaging which managed to travel to & fro with no jerks and breakage. Packaging also includes small handy mirror inside. However, being a beginner, I wish they had provided a brush too, though my Sephora Professional Brush did all the work for me. Over all, I find it pretty user friendly & good for travelling.

Coming to the shade ‘Buff (a shimmering beige blush), a little did I know that shimmers are a big nay for oily skin plus they might add years on our face. But luckily, whenever I tried this blush on my skin, I didn’t face any of these issues other than being little hesitant to wear shimmers for first time.

The shade seems beige with tons of silver sparkles, but it comes more warm toned peach mixed beige with hint of shimmers which does not look overpowering. Though, I feel shimmers could have been avoided to make it a perfect match for my light skin type! Moreover, it does not give me clown cheeks. In fact, I do feel that if used lightly on the apples of the cheeks and gently swept sideways, it can help to chisel out the features. Other than that, I had to limit its usage for night time or use it lesser than required during day time in order to avoid disco-ball look which affects its wear time and pigmentation as well.

Even my SIL tried it on her fair skin tone and she also found it perfect to be used as a daytime bronzer even with those shimmers. She also brushes it lightly on her cheeks for sun kissed look. What so ever, I am more impressed with the pigmentation and finish of this blush which gives enough coverage with a gentle swipe. It stays for good 5+ hours on my oily skin, though I never observed 12 hour long wear time like it claims.

Considering it is infused with goodness of Amazonian clay, I did feel it never triggered excess oil secretion on my skin. In fact, it helped me get matte skin even with the presence of sparkles. The texture being powdery and shimmery gives a velvety finish on my skin with no further issues of breakouts or itchy skin.

Only the shade could have been slightly better and devoid of shimmers as I really like this peachy beige blush and being a first time user, I am more comfortable with beige and peaches as they look more natural over usual pink and tawny shades as per my experience. I won’t recommend this shade to everyone except ones who love shimmers, though I am really interested to try other matte shades from this range now that I know how to wear them!

I would not get this shade again as this one will last me till eternity probably, but I will definitely get other shades in near future.

Let’s sum up pros and cons:

Pros of Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Buff:

• A long-wear, Amazonian clay infused blush which comes in variety of shades to suit every skin tone and skin type.
• The texture being powdery matte makes it suitable for even oily, acne prone skin.
• This shade consists of tons of shimmers, but it does not look cheap or add years on our face. In fact, it is way subtle when used moderately.
• If used right, this shade can create an illusion of more chiselled features.
• The shade will suit a variety of light skin tone, especially Asian Indian skin tones.
• The wear time is quite good; 5+ hours on my oily skin with/without primer.
• It does not cause any breakouts or further skin issues.
• Quite user friendly and travel friendly packaging.

Cons of Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Buff:

• I wish it came with an applicator.
• Shimmer is not everyone’s cup of tea.
• The beige shimmery shade is not for oily skinned beauties with large pores.
• Wear time is not exact 12 hours, as per their claims.
• Presence of talc, mica might be bothering.

IMBB Rating:

3.5/5

Verdict:

Well, I really wish this one came with an applicator considering its high end price. Plus, I am still not convinced with this shimmery beige shade even after several trials. Probably, I will try its matte shade soon, but I am not re-purchasing ‘Buff’ again.
