Since Tarte started selling Amazonian clay 12-hr bush, people wait and grab any new shade they release. There holiday gift sets are also pretty famous. Looking at beauty bloggers rave about them for months, I decided to try my hands on Tarte Amazonian clay bushes. Captivating shade is my first Tarte blush. It is a pretty good investment for non-makeup lovers and a gem for makeup ‘connoisseurs’.
Like all the Tarte blushes the color of the packaging belongs to the color family of the blush. Captivating is in a peach colored circular plastic container. A golden ‘tarte’ is embossed on top with no other design on cover. At the back other details like shade name, country where it is made, weight etc. are mentioned.
Even though it is plastic container , its pretty sturdy. The cover closes with a ‘click’ sound. There is a decent size mirror provided on the back of the cover. The amount of blush is only 5.6g. Considering other brands this much amount is far less. Lower part of the container has the bush encased within thick plastic boundary.
The packaging cannot be called slim. They could have done it sleek as they provide very less amount of the blush anyway.
$26 (INR 1560 approximately)
Texture of this blush is very smooth. I cannot call this blush buttery because something in its composition is making it hard. On the site, it is mentioned that these are solar baked which might be the reason for hardness. Despite being hard, it is not dry. It transfers on skin easily. It is blend-able. There is no fall out when a brush is dipped in the pan. The best brush, according to me, will be natural hair blush brush or real techniques blush brush. This color is totally matte. It does not exaggerate pores and is non-drying. Amazonian clay is said to be responsible for that.
Pigmentation of this shade is quite intense. Color is build-able. From outside, it appears that the color is suitable for light skin only, but it can be used by dark skin as well. It blends and settles quickly.
Staying power totally depends on the type of skin you have. This will stay more on dry skin as compared to my skin type, but still I am talking about more than 12 hrs of wear time.
Since it stains, the longevity automatically increases. Speaking about fading, it does happen but gracefully, there is no blotching while fading, which is a plus point. I did not wear any skin primer or powder or base, but I guess primer, setting spray will increase the staying power.
