$19 for 0.27 fl oz. I have a mini version.

Product Description:

This hybrid addition to Tarte’s signature LipSurgence™ line delivers all the plumped-up benefits of a gloss and pigmented performance of a tint in an antioxidant-rich formula. Each ultra-hydrating, vanilla flavored lip gloss imparts natural-looking color to enhance your complexion while drenching lips in moisture and mega-watt, non-sticky shine. Infused with vitamin E, jojoba seed oil and flower extract, this multi-tasking formula helps smooth the look of fine lines and wrinkles while moisturizing dry lips for a healthy, plumped-up appearance that lasts. Available in glossy versions of 10 signature Tarte shades: limited-edition envy, park ave princess, flush, blushing bride, tipsy, blissful, fearless, natural beauty, exposed and true love.

My Experience with Tarte Cosmetics LipSurgence Lip Gloss in Exposed:

Packaging/Applicator:  This lip gloss comes in a transparent tube with a muted metallic colored cap. The overall packaging looks sleek and classy.  Tarte claims that this has a unique applicator and features an ergonomic tip that gently glides around the shape of your lips. Honestly, I could not spot any difference between this applicator and any other doe-foot applicator which is typical of lip glosses. Of course, that does not take away from the fact that the lip gloss is indeed easy to apply even around the corner of the lips. The applicator picks up the perfect amount of gloss and you don’t need to dip it frequently into the tube.

Formula:  This lip gloss is thick in consistency and slightly sticky. Initially, it feels comfortable and hydrating on the lips. It doesn’t bleed like many other glosses, but it gets stickier as time passes by. The upside of this thick consistency is that it has a very good staying power. It easily stays on for around 4 hours and can survive light snacking.

Fragrance:  The lip gloss has a pleasant vanilla fragrance. Nothing very over powering and sensitive noses need not fear.

Shade:  Tarte describes this shade as n*de rose and it indeed looks like a beautiful dusty rose in the tube. However, it applies quite sheer on the lips. And on my pigmented lips, the lip gloss hardly shows any color. It just shows up as a n*de glossy tint.

As a result, I rarely use this lip gloss on its own. Mostly, I layer it on top of some other lipstick for an added glossy finish.

Tarte Cosmetics LipSurgence Lip Gloss in Exposed

To summarize, the Tarte LipSurgence lip gloss has a pretty good formula and glossy finish. However, the color does not show up on pigmented lips. It is up to you to decide whether you want to spend $19 on a n*de glossy finish.

Pros of Tarte Cosmetics LipSurgence Lip Gloss in Exposed:

  • Glides smoothly on the lips.
  • Keeps the lips hydrated due to the thick consistency.
  • Gives a beautiful glossy, shiny finish to the lips.
  • Doesn’t bleed.
  • Stays on for around 4 hours.
  • Classy packaging.
  • Pleasant fragrance.

Cons of Tarte Cosmetics LipSurgence Lip Gloss in Exposed:

  • Very sheer and the color does not show on pigmented lips.
  • Tends to get stickier with time.
  • Expensive.

IMBB Rating:

3/5.

Would I Repurchase/Recommend Tarte Cosmetics LipSurgence Lip Gloss in Exposed?

If you do not have pigmented lips and are looking for a lightly tinted gloss, you can surely try the TarteLipSurgence Lip Gloss in Exposed.

I will give it a pass as I am sure I can find a more tinted lip gloss at that price.
