Today, I am going to review the Tarte LipSurgence Matte Lip Tint in the shade “Hope.” I really liked their original Lip Tint in Moody. It was lightweight, moisturizing, and had a good staying power. So, I went ahead and tried their matte lip tint.
A follow up to the best-selling LipSurgence™ lip tint, this hydrating formula delivers the same moisturizing results but with a soft, beautiful matte finish.
Product Performance: LipSurgence™ matte lip tints combine rich, matte color with natural moisturizers to glide on smooth and soften lips. The proprietary formula effectively increases skin’s water content for a “plumped up” appearance and a refreshing hint of mint. The result is naturally fuller, rich, matte lips without any irritation or stinging. The easy-to-use twist-up container eliminates the need for sharpeners.
Powered By: A proprietary blend of plant bio-nutrients, vitamins, and essential oils rich in emollients: these antioxidant free radical fighters (vitamin C & E, pepperming & jojoba oil) prevent premature signs of aging, while softening lips.
My Experience with Tarte Hope LipSurgence Natural Matte Lip Tint:
I have dry lips and a matte lip product is the last thing I would think about using. Matte lip products tend to dry out my already dry lips making them look parched and unhealthy. So, I was staying away from them. When I saw that Tarte had a matte lip tint, I so wanted to try that. The price was quite steep, so I was waiting to buy that in some deal. That’s when it came along with a set and I bought it immediately.
It comes in a chubby stick with twist-up packaging. I love this kind of packaging for lip products for the ease of use and control it provides.
The shade “Hope” is a warm pink and on my lips, it shows up with a bit of purple. It is a nice wearable color for any time of the day. The texture is a little hard and you need to swipe it 4-5 times to get the desired color on the lips. Also, make sure to start with clean and exfoliated lips, else it would accentuate the dry patches on the lips. It neither drying nor moisturizing. It has a mild cool feeling when applied.
Once applied, it gives a subtle look, which doesn’t cry for attention. It also makes the face look fresh. If you are looking for a “no makeup” look, then you should get something like this.
I sometimes use it alone or on top of a lip balm. If used on top of a lip balm, the staying power reduces a little bit. Otherwise also, it does not have a great staying power. On me, it stays for 3-4 hours. After a meal, it starts fading in the middle. So, it doesn’t fade evenly and I have to re-apply it to make it look even.
Here are the pros and cons about this product:
Pros of Tarte Hope LipSurgence Natural Matte Lip Tint:
- Finally, I could use a matte lip product that feels comfortable on lips.
- A very pretty every day shade.
- Does not dry out the lips.
- Easy to use, twist-up packaging.
Cons of Tarte Hope LipSurgence Natural Matte Lip Tint:
- It does not give a plumped-up look and does not moisturize.
- Pricey if bought alone, better to buy it in a set.
- Staying power is not great and does not fade evenly.
I would have loved this product if it had a little better staying power and was priced reasonably.
