My Experience with Tarte LipSurgence Matte Lip Tint  – Envy:

As much as I love my creamy finish lipstick and glosses, I feel like a good matte lip color is a must-have for everybody, but usually the biggest problem I have encountered with matte lip colours is that they can be super drying on my lips. Therefore, I was on the hunt for a good matte for a long time when I decided to give the highly popular Tarte LipSurgence a try.  The thing that most intrigued me about this product were the claims that this is non-drying on the lips on the contrary it is clinically proven to increase moisture content by an astonishing 6000% after 28 days. Quite a tall claim to live up to for a matte lip color. Read on to know how it fared for me and my super dry, easily cracked and chapped lips.

Packaging:  You cannot deny that the packaging for Tarte LipSurgence is super cute. All their lip tints come in their standard chubby stick format with a securely attached cap. I love the fact the color of the pencil is a true reflection of the lip color inside, right down to the finish. I also love that it’s a twist up pencil and there is no hassle of sharpening the pencil though the point is bound to get blunt with each use.

Color:  The shade “Envy” is described as a mauve berry. If I had to choose a lip color shade that I would have with me on a deserted island with no other makeup, this is a shade I would pick. This kind of shade is my most favorite as it looks the most natural, imparts MLBB look for my NW23 skin tone. This shade looks appropriate for every special occasion as well as for day time office wear. The matte finish makes it blend seamlessly with my natural lip color and makes it look like I have absolutely no product on my lips.  Also looks wonderful when topped with a gloss.

Pigmentation:  This product glides like butter on the lips, absolutely no tugging and goes on with full color. Though 2-3 swipes is needed to provide even coverage, the intensity of the color can be built up with multiple swipes which will be good enough to cover even the most pigmented lips.

Feel on lips:  I was super impressed with this product. I don’t find this product to be moisturizing (6000% more moisture, no way!!) but it is by far the most non-drying matte lip color I have ever used.  Upon application, my lips feels super soft and smooth and there is absolutely no hint of dryness; feels very comfortable on the lips. But within an hour or so, my lips do start feeling a little bit dry and parched which is when I would usually apply a light coat of chapstick. I don’t think that it accentuates or sticks to dry patches on the lips, but that being said, it is always good to exfoliate lips before applying any matte product on the lips. Upon application, there is slight tingling sensation and strong peppermint scent, both of which wind down within a minute or less.

Staying Power:  The color does stay put on the lips for 3-4 hours and will even survive through snacking with ease. After fading, it does leave a slight tint behind which lingers for another hour.

Pros of Tarte LipSurgence Matte Lip Tint  – Envy:

• Very natural-looking MLBB shade.
• Very comfortable on the lips.
• Non drying but not too moisturizing either.
• Does not accentuate dryness or fine lines on the lips.
• Good staying power of 3-4 hours.
• Leave a nice tint after fading which lingers for another hour.
• Pleasant peppermint scent.
• Tingling sensation is not too bothersome.
• Paraben free.

Cons of Tarte LipSurgence Matte Lip Tint  – Envy:

• Leaves lips feeling parched after an hour or so, makes me want to reach for my chapstick.
• Expensive.
