Tarte Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara Review

Hello everyone,

This review will be on a new mascara from Tarte – it’s the Tarte Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara.
Tarte Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara

Product Description:
A jet-black, volume-packed mascara so anyone can master the tarte of the fringe.

What it does:  Coat lashes in ultra-black, volumized color with just one stroke for thicker, sexier-looking lashes. This amped-up, drama-filled mascara is infused with triple-black, painted mineral pigments. It softens and nourishes lashes as it paints and creates glossy, saturated definition for hours of mess-free wear with no flaking. The custom, sculpted paint brush features flexible, molded bristles that grab-and-lock even the tiniest lashes, coating them in 360° root-to-tip, jet-black pigment. In a simple stroke, it sculpts, separates, and lifts your lashes for an ultimate boost of volume, length, and curl with the grace and ease of a makeup pro.  It is formulated without parabens, phthalates.

My Experience with Tarte Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara:

Packaging and Wand:  I do find the design of the tube very cute with the black and gold splash paint splatter design. The wand has short, spiky, rubber bristles. The wand is very reminiscent of Benefit They’re Real Mascara. I do really like bristles like these as I feel they are very good to give my lashes a thorough “root to tip” coating while also being the perfect size to use on the bottom lashes (which can be difficult with a fat bristle wand).

Formula and Application:  The formula of this mascara is very wet. If you prefer more of a dry formula in mascaras, this product is not for you. With wet mascaras, one of the biggest cons, is that it can becomes clumpy, as in it can make your lashes stick together, making it seem like you have less lashes. If you have short lashes, you might be more prone to this, but I do find that if you use the wiggle motion while you apply, it’s the best method with such formulas.

I find that this mascara coats each one of my lashes and makes them stand out with its deepest shade of black. This mascara provides amazing length to my lashes and also adds a decent amount of volume. I don’t find this mascara to be buildable, it’s more prone to clumping with multiple coats. You do have to be careful and wipe the excess off the tip or you will get stray mascara bits on your lashes.

This mascara does not curl my lashes, hence I do have to use a lash curler beforehand, but it does hold the curl well. It makes my lashes look very fluttery and wispy.

Staying Power:  This mascara is not waterproof and I have noticed it running from my bottom lashes when my eyes get watery (which happens a lot during this allergy season), but apart from that, it wears pretty good. I see no clumping or flaking throughout the day. It comes off easily at the end of the end with a simple waterproof makeup remover wipe.

Overall, I absolutely love the effect I get with this mascara, which is very similar to the Benefit They’re Real mascara, but I prefer the Tarte version more as it is not as hard to remove and hence doesn’t cause trauma to my lashes. I will recommend this.

Cons of Tarte Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara:
