I have already told you guys that I purchased a mini set of creamy lip paints and lip crayons from Tarte. I have already reviewed some of their lip paints. Today, I am going to review Tarte Tarteist Lip Crayon in the shade “Thirsty”. Let’s get started.

Packaging: Tarte Lip Crayons come housed in a retractable colour coded pencil with the brand name and the color name engraved on the pencil in golden colour. The packaging is sleek, but there is one big problem. When we twist up the pencil, it goes up nicely but the problem occurs when we try to twist the product back inside. At many times, I have struggled with twisting it back and have lost a lot of the product. This is quite annoying, as we need to twist up only the required amount, or otherwise, it goes waste.

Shade: The shade “Thirsty” is a deep, cool toned red colour. It is a universally flattering shade and will complement any red lipstick. This is the only red shade in the entire lip crayon collection.

Formula: The formula of these lip crayons is a bit creamy in texture, but they are not extremely buttery. It doesn’t glide on the lips as other lip pencils, which I have tried, do. It is a bit difficult to apply and requires some pressure. It does tug the lips while applying and tends to break easily, which is pretty disappointing. The formula isn’t hydrating or moisturising, and clings to the dry patches when I try to fill in the lips. This lip crayon is only apt for outlining the lips rather than filling, which is disappointing. Sometimes, I just use a lip liner all over my lips, but with this product, a lipstick is a must as it is very difficult to fill the lips with these, and even when filled, they appear horrible. The pigmentation of this shade is quite nice, it is rich and deep, and one swipe gives a good colour pay off.

Staying power: The longevity of these lip crayons is quite good. They last for more than 5 hours and survive while eating and drinking.

Overall, I really don’t like this one. I love Tarte products, but I was so let down after trying these lip crayons. These lip pencils are below average, which can only be used for lining the lips and not filling them. Even in the swatch shown here, I have only lined my lips with these crayons and used Tarte Creamy Lip Paint in “Bae” to fill them up. You can completely skip these, as there are much better options available in the market.
