Thalgo Foaming Marine Cleanser Review

Thalgo Foaming Marine Cleanser

By Oindrila Chakrabarti

Hello ladies!

This is my first ever post for IMBB and I can’t wait to share it with you all. The product I am reviewing today is from Thalgo, the giant Marine skincare brand and it’s a foaming cleanser.

Price: INR 1700/£25.65

Here is the thing. My mum’s a dermatologist and my skincare regime is entirely controlled by her. Bad is I can’t pick anything up *just* because it’s pretty and good is whatever I pick up is usually great! So when I ran out of my Cetaphil and H2O+ supplies the other day, mommy dearest went online and picked up two cleansers from Jabong.

Thalgo Foaming Marine Cleanser

I have been using it for about three weeks and ready to share my verdict, so here we go!

Ingredients: Aqua, Sodim Cocoyl Glutamate, Glycerin, Glycereth 26, Maltooligosyl Glucoside, Sodium Lauryl Glucose Carboxylate, Hydrogenated Starch Hydrolysate, Lauryl Glucoside, Coco Glucoside, Glyceryl Oleate, Parfum, Isopropyl alcohol, Phenoyethanol, Citric Acid, Chlorphenesin, Sorbic Acid, Ethylhexylglycerin, Butylene Glycol, Gelidium Sesquipedale Extract, Tocopjerol, Grapefruit extract, Hexyl Cinnamal, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Hydroxyisohexyl, 3 Cyclohexane Carboxaldehyde, Citronellol, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone.

What Thalgo claims: Combining pleasure and effectiveness in a single step, this lotion with floral and botanical notes transform into a fresh foaming cleanser.

Did you understand any of that? Well, me neither. So for the layman or woman, it’s a foam based cleanser meant to refine and hydrate your skin gently.

My experience with Thalgo Foaming Marine Cleanser:

First and foremost, my skin is dry. Like you just put a moisturizer and whoosh! It’s gone type of dry. Now Thalgo recommends this as a cleanser ideal for normal to combination skin but surprisingly it works fine for me. What I understand that I, even during summer, have to top it off with Vichy Bi-White Med right after cleansing but if your skin is normal or combination or even if a little oily, this cleanser will do wonders for you. The hydration level as claimed obviously doesn’t do much justice to my skin though.

The Pros of Thalgo Foaming Marine Cleanser

• Excellent for gentle twice a day cleansing, fine option for teenagers or 20 somethings.
• Refreshing smell despite being a marine product. The citrus and grapefruit wake your skin up automatically.
• Little amount of product is good enough to wash off face, throat and neck unlike most of the foams that disappear and make you reach for the bottle more than once.
• Provides light hydration, ideal for makeup prep.
• This is what you could call “Safe zone” skincare. I can feel the dull patches of my face under control, no sights of any skin disturbance ever since I started using it despite being a simple straight forward product.

Cons of Thalgo Foaming Marine Cleanser:

• Expensive, like all Thalgo products are. 150 ml/5.07 fl.oz. is priced at INR 1700.
• Available only online on Jabong, Nykaa, Flipkart, Purplle and StrawberryNet.
• Not recommended for extremely oily/aging skin.
• The cap. I hate it. The pump is fine but after you have put the cap back on, the little bit of foam trapped in the mouth of the pump liquidifies and flows all the way down. Wastage wastage. Same reason why you can’t chuck it in your travel pouch safely.

Do I recommend/repurchase Thalgo Foaming Marine Cleanser?

Maybe. It has found a place in my skincare regime and unless I have spent all my pocketmoney in ZARA again, I’ll go for it.
I recommend it if you’re below 25 and don’t have a troublesome skin.

IMBB Rating: 3.8/5. Oh yes, I am strict.

  2. Hey! I rarely comment on posts but I really wanted to say that I thoroughly enjoyed reading this post 😀 PLEASE write more! And more! And then some more.

    1. Thalgo, Dermalogica, Avene, H2O+ start from this range, unfortunately. *nababana* But, with terrible skin like mine in an Indian market where fellows concentrate mainly on “whitening”, quite worth the hole in the pocket. 🙂
