The 10-Step Korean Beauty Regimen

Hi ladies,
We all envy Korean girls’ porcelain and younger looking skin. It seems like they never age! Is it all because of genes? No! They actually take really good care of their skin. Koreans’ 10-step beauty routine has created a lot of buzz over the years. Let’s find out what these steps are.

1. Precleanse
Cleansing the skin is a two-step process in Korea. They use oil-based cleaner to remove every trace of makeup, sebum and debris from the face. They also use towelette enriched with green tea, aloe, or lavender to remove their makeup.

cleansing

2. Cleanse
Next step is to cleanse the face using a water-based cleanser. They don’t like to rush through the step; instead they take their time to gently rub the cleanser in circular motions to boost the circulation on your face.

3. Exfoliate
Exfoliation opens up clogged pores and helps to scrub away dead skin cells. This is a step that varies from person to person. Oily-skinned beauties may need to exfoliate thrice a week but dry-skinned beauties can do with once a week application of exfoliator.

toning

4. Tone
A toner balances the pH level of the skin, softens, moisturizes and preps your skin to better absorb the essences and serums to follow. They use a good quality toner and not the alcohol-based toners.

5. Essence
Essence is a thin, hydrating liquid that contains active ingredients that optimize your skin’s natural cell turnover rate and help in skin regeneration. Essence helps to improve the overall appearance of the skin.

6. Serum
Serums are more concentrated versions of an essence. There are different serums targeting different skin problems like dull and damaged skin, uneven skin tone, lines and wrinkles and what not!

7. Sheet mask
The mask sheet is the quintessential Korean beauty product and Koreans swear by them. Sheet masks come loaded with numerous helpful ingredients and hundreds of different kinds that target a variety of concerns. They are ready-to-use masks which are meant to be put on the face for 15-20 minutes.

eye cream

8. Eye cream
The skin around the eyes is thinner and a lot more sensitive and an eye cream helps tackle that issue. Eye creams are infused with collagen which helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and even helps to avoid them.

9. Moisturizer
We all know the importance of a moisturizer; it hydrates and moisturizes the skin from within. A moisturizer should be applied in gentle circular motions to make it really penetrate into the skin.

night cream

10. Night cream
As if all the serums, essences and moisturizers weren’t enough, there is something else for you to slather on your skin. It is the night cream! As our skin works to repair the damaged skin cells at night, night cream really does help to cater to all the skin’s issues and gives you a glowing skin when you wake up in the morning.

I know these steps can’t be done daily but we can at least follow 5-6 of them on a daily basis and provide our skin with some well-deserved love and care!

  1. Is this skin care routine to be followed in this order? Is Step 7 (mask sheets )are to be applied after serum because after mask sheet you have to wash your face.I am confused.
