The Body Shop All-In-One Instablur Makeup Primer Review

The Body Shop All-In-One Instablur Makeup Primer Review

Hello all,

I am back with another review and yes, it’s not a skin care product. 😛 As much as we love makeup, we want it to stay for long and look fresh and makeup primers are exactly meant for that.  Since The Body Shop launched its All-In-One Instablur Makeup Primer, I wanted to try it out specifically because of its two claims – reduces appearance of pores and blemish hiding. I have very dry skin, so at the same time I was a bit skeptical to pick this up because it says mattifying as well!!! But then the ingredients also mentions Marula Oil, so I thought of giving it a try. How did it fare on me, let’s find out.

My Experience with The Body Shop All-In-One Instablur Makeup Primer:

Packaging:  It comes in a really small tube of just 25 ml, which is white in color with a black screw cap. The product details are mentioned on the back of the tube. The mouth of the tube has a tiny opening for the product to come out. Overall, the packing is very simple, no frills attached and travel friendly.

The product is clear, very thick and dry. When I squeezed it first time out of the tube, it fell down, since it didn’t stick to my fingers. I was really worried about the texture and how would it go on my skin, but it glides on the skin very easily and makes it really smooth, baby soft. It has a mild fragrance which goes away in minutes after application. My skin feels really smooth and makeup glides easily. My face did not feel heavy and it felt as if I have not applied any thing to my face. Only a little quantity is needed per application. The quantity shown in the swatch is sufficient for application on face.

I have visible pores on my cheeks and nose. It did blur those pores and gave me a nearly pore-less finish. Also, though my skin is very dry, I have an oily nose. I have worn it for 9 hours max and it did keep the oil and shine away from my nose. Not once, did I feel the need to blot my nose. 🙂 So the 12-hour claim may be true. I have a very sensitive skin and it did not break me out, so full marks on that as well. Unlike BB or CC creams, it does not have any color, so we definitely do not have to worry about getting the correct shade for our skin.

But that is all that this product does. It does not blurs away my blemishes as it says in its claims, so wearing it on its own doesn’t do much good. Having dry skin, I was always scared about its mattifyng part and my fears did come true. 🙁 I have a few dry patches on my face and it did highlight them, which obviously did not give me an impressing look. 🙁 I tried applying moisturizer over the patches, but they were still very much visible and prominent. 🙁

Cons of The Body Shop All-In-One Instablur Makeup Primer:

Would I Repurchase The Body Shop All-In-One Instablur Makeup Primer?

It does keep your makeup looking fresh, so I think it is a very good pick for oily skinned girls, but I would skip it since I have dry skin. I would use the remaining tube on my nose though to keep it shine free.

  1. I was so happy reading that it keeps oil away while diminishing the size of pores.. but later read it does nothing for blemishes! 🙁 My hunt for a perfect primer continues…
