The Body Shop Almond Shower Gel Review

The Body Shop Almond Shower Gel Review

Good morning everyone….I hope everyone is catching up the jolly good holiday spirit. 🙂 I am here with a review of The Body Shop Almond Shower Gel.

Body Shop Almond Shower Gel

Packaging:

The shower gel comes in a standard The Body Shop plastic bottle with a flip top cap. The bottle is said to be made from 30% recycled plastic which is a good point for our environment. The packaging is good but that cannot be said for the cap. The flip top cap is not easy to open. So I prefer to open the complete cap for use. But things tend to be very slippery in the shower, so most of the time I tend to fumble with it.The shower gel is almost transparent with faint brown in color. The fragrance of the shower gel does have almond fragrance to it, but also hints of chemical aroma which I do not like.

Price:

8.4 oz.(250 ml), bottle is priced at $8.

My Experience with The Body Shop Almond Shower Gel

The shower gel lathers up ok and cleans well. I have used this shower gel both after I have had body lotion as well as body oil on my skin. And both times the shower gel works well. After rinsing off, it does not leave any moisturized feel on the skin but just clean fresh skin. As a shower gel I did not have any expectation either that it would hydrate my skin even though it claims to contain almond content. My expectation from shower gel is to just clean the dirt and grime well, which this shower gel did.

It also did not make my skin extremely dry either. However I do need to apply moisturizer owing to my dry skin type. So overall I did not find any changes on my skin on using this shower gel…either positive or negative effects.

Body Shop Almond Shower Gel

The shower gel claims to have soap free cleansing ingredients. But sadly those ingredients are not listed on the bottle. And when I looked it up on the website it claims to contain sulfates. So I am on two minds which version to believe.

When I use the shower gel the whole bathroom smells of the shower gel but that fragrance does not stay on my skin. For me this is a positive point as I am not a fan of almond fragrance. If you like almond fragrance I would recommend that you could layer it up with lotion or body butters with almond fragrance. Also, another advantage I find is since the shower gel fragrance does not linger on my skin I can go ahead and use my other body lotions, which have different fragrance and notes.

Body Shop Almond Shower Gel

Pros of The Body Shop Almond Shower Gel:

  • Works as a good shower gel to clean.
  • Lathers ok in the shower.
  • Skin feels clean and fresh after shower.
  • Fragrance does not linger on the skin for long, so easy to use other fragrance products.

Cons of The Body Shop Almond Shower Gel:

  • Would like the product only if you like almond fragrance.
  • Does not have sweet almond fragrance but smells more like chemical.
  • Flip top cap not easy to use.
  • Did not experience any almond hydrating benefits.
  • Have to be layered with similar almond fragrance products for fragrance to last longer.
  • Does contain sulfates.

IMBB Rating:

3 out of 5. Did not like the fragrance and neither found any special benefits of using this product exclusively.

Would I repurchase The Body Shop Almond Shower Gel?

I would not buy almond shower gel from The Body Shop, but I would pick up other variants. It did not fare for me as any unique shower gel that I would always pick up.

If you have tried this shower gel, have you had similar experiences too?…..please share your thoughts.
