The Body Shop Atlas Mountain Rose Shower Gel Review

Hi Ladies,

The “Scents of the World” collection by TBS was launched in UK, USA and Malaysia a couple of months back. I was eagerly waiting for the launch in Australia, but it hasn’t happened yet.  So, when I was in Malaysia for transit recently, I grabbed some Body Shop products because they were quite cheaper than in Australia.  I grabbed a few from the “Scents of the World” collection.

About the Scents of the World Collection:

Escape with our captivating fragrance collection inspired by scents of the world, created with ingredients sourced from around the globe.  We travelled the world to bring you back the most precious natural extracts, hand-picked and harvested with care, blended them with 100% organic and community fair trade alcohol and worked with fragrance experts to bring you our finest fragrance collection: Scents of the World.

The following fragrances are available in the Scents of the World Collection:

Amazonian wild lily, Madagascan vanilla flower, Japanese cherry blossom, Indian night jasmine, Atlas mountain rose.

Out of these, Japanese Cherry Blossom is not new but it is an improved version with different packaging. I like the old version better, the new one smells odd. These fragrances come as shower gels, body lotions, EDTs, fragrance mists and perfume oils.

My Experience with The Body Shop Atlas Mountain Rose Shower Gel:

When I was in the store, I tried the Atlas Mountain Rose Body Lotion (because I couldn’t really “try” the shower gel).  The immediate reaction was “aah, rose again!” I am not too fond of rose fragrances, they remind me of old boutique stores.  However, I have heard that even though the British rose is famous, the best come from the Eastern Europe region including Morocco and Turkey.  Since this product is from Morocco, I  wanted to try it. The first sniff told me it was just plain rose water smell, and I was disappointed, but after a few minutes, it dried to leave a sophisticated musky rose smell which impressed me. I bought the shower gel as well as the lotion.

The shower gel comes in a transparent flip cap plastic bottle and the label is quite cute.  I am liking the new packaging and style that The Body Shop is introducing nowadays. This shower gel is quite thin and runny and I have tried it with and without loofah. Unlike other TBS shower gels which are thick, this one was runny, so using a loofah was quite harsh on the skin. However, the product lathers well without a loofah. The shower gel leaves the skin refreshed and softly scented. The fragrance however doesn’t last for so long, and should be layered to make it last longer. I haven’t used the Moroccan Rose products from The Body Shop, so I am unable to compare it with this product.

TBS Atlas Mountain Rose Shower Gel 4

Pros of The Body Shop Atlas Mountain Rose Shower Gel:

  • Lovely rose fragrance, which is much better than the British Rose fragrance.  This one smells refreshing as well as feminine at the same time.
  • Contains community trade ingredients.
  • Product is quite runny and not thick at all, so it’s suitable for summer and for tropical climates.
  • A whole range such as lotion, shower gel, mist, EDT as well as perfume oils are available at the same time for layering.

Cons of The Body Shop Atlas Mountain Rose Shower Gel:

  • Because of the thin consistency, this shower gel cannot be used with a loofah as it is quite abrasive on the skin.
  • Apart from the whole hype, because it is a new collection, I didn’t find anything unique to rave about this product.

3.75/5
