The Body Shop Cheek colour no. 5 Tea Rose Review

Hello IMBB Beauties! Today I’m reviewing The body shop blush colour no. 5 Tea rose . This is my Mum’s favourite blush and after hearing her sing praises of this particular colour many times, I tried it out myself. I loved the warm glow this blush gave to my face. Here’s the review –

Price : Rs 495
Quantity : 4 g

Shade being reviewed : #5 Tea Rose (peachy brown with plum undertone)

Shade selection : Comes in 6 colour s – 02 Raspberry Pink , 03 Heather Pink, 04 Golden Pink, 05 Tea Rose, 10 Sweet Nutmeg and 12 Apricot Shimmer.

What the website says : Our long-lasting, lightweight ultra-fine powder blush offers sheer natural looking colour and a super-smooth finish. With Community Trade marula oil. Available in a variety of shades and finishes to suit all skin tones and complement all looks. Dermatologically tested.

Ingredients from website :

Marula Oil – Is a very effective moisturiser that also helps to condition the skin over time. Also provides essential fatty acids that help to repair the skin’s moisture barrier, thus helping to restore moisture, smoothness and suppleness.
Vitamin E – Is an antioxidant that helps to soften, condition and protect the skin.
Lanolin oil – Moisturises the skin.

Marula oil comes from the marula tree, native to Southern Africa. The oil is rich in oleic acid, essential to the maintenance of healthy-looking skin. The Body Shop trades with the Eudafano Womens Cooperative in northern Namibia, which helps women in rural communities who have very few opportunities to earn money. The trade with our company has helped more than 750 women and their families to benefit from this traditional, yet underutilized natural resource.

My experience with the product : The Body Shop cheek colour is a sheer blush with medium pigmentation. The blush gives just a hint of colour in the first application but the intensity can be built up. This way it is great for beginners who might tend to go overboard with highly pigmented blushes. The formula is quite blendable and the powder is very smooth in texture. The shade being reviewed (no. 5) is a warm colour – a matte peachy brown with a plum undertone. It is my mum’s favourite blush since its quite subtle colour and not highly pigmented so easy to apply.

The Body Shop Cheek Colour Tea Rose

The colour is quite difficult to capture in swatch- it looks either too nude or more plummy than it actually is. In reality, it looks exactly as it looks on my face- a warm peachy brown. I like pairing such shades with coral or earthy colour lipsticks and warm brown/copper eye makeup. I think the best way to wear this colour is to apply it under the cheekbones and blend it upwards and outwards i.e towards the apples of the cheeks and the temples. This way it acts as a blush cum contouring powder. It is a beautiful shade to have in one’s collection. It makes a wonderful combination with coral/peach/earthy nude lipsticks and warm eye makeup and is perfect for a sun kissed beach-like look. Staying power is average..about 4-5 hours. Packaging is sturdy and provided with a transparent cover to identification is easy.

PROS of The Body Shop Cheek Colour Tea Rose

1. Smooth texture
2. Super blendable formula
3. Medium pigmentation – easy to apply especially for beginners.
4. Packaging is sturdy, travel friendly and provided with transparent cover so identification is easy.
5. Coverage is buildable- makes it versatile.
6. Beautiful shade that gives a warm glow to the face
7. Matte blush- can also be used for contouring for fair/medium skin tones, does not accentuate pores.
8. Did not break me out or irritate the skin.
9. TBS does not test on animals.
10. Decent staying power of 4-5 hours.

CONS  of The Body Shop Cheek Colour Tea Rose

1. For more pigmentation and coverage, 2-3 swipes are needed.
2. 4g for Rs 495 for a sheer blush – comes out a little expensive but since it’s the Body Shop, brand value also comes in the price.
3. Incomplete list of ingredients.
4. Does not come with a brush or mirror.

Final Verdict : The texture and and blendability gets full marks. Pigmentation and coverage is sheer but buildable which makes application easy especially for novices. Shade no. 5 Tea Rose is a beautiful matte peachy brown shade with a plum undertone that can double up as a contouring shade and gives a warm glow to the face. It’s the perfect warm shade for all skin tones ( but may not show up on very dusky skins) and I highly recommend it to everyone. Staying power is average (4-5 hours) and since no mirror/applicator is provided, 4 g for Rs 495 is a little expensive.

Rating : 4/5 (for CONS listed above)

Will I repurchase : Yes! And probably in another shade too.

      1. Thank you Rati 🙂 Just earth is warmer and more orange toned. This one has a plum undertone- that’s why I think it makes a great warm toned blush for cool skin tones. It just gave such a nice warm glow to my face! It hasn’t come out that well in pics though.

  1. Great review Ankita-I am really on the hunt for neutral blushes as on regular days-ones with deep pigmentation or shimmer looks rather ODD and OTT 😀 😀 this seems to be a great option-and a TBS blush at 495 bucks is good enough..just hope I will find this in Kolkata 🙂 🙂 🙂

    1. This is perfect for regular wear Anuradha. Matte and gives a nice warm glow!! I keep ‘warm glow’..not able to get over it..its just a lovely color. Pair it with warm/neutral/coral lipsticks , it looks great. If you wear a face primer underneath, it’ll last even longer. I hope you find it in Kolkata :))

  2. Novice – sounds like me! Am looking for something neutral to begin with. I’m always worried products will break me out so that’s one worry gone.

    1. Oh this is really neutral. My mum is very skeptical abt anything remotely bright cos she works in a male dominated environment and if she can wear this blush anyone can!! It’ll look nice on you Shai. Do try it next time you’re at TBS store.
