Packaging:

This pearlescent shade comes in retractable silver bullet packaging with pink cap, which tightly fits onto the bullet. It does have faint rose smell as per its claim, which is way mild to bother sensitive noses. Over all, quite user-friendly and travel-friendly packaging.

My Experience with The Body Shop Colour Crush Lipstick in Red Hot Raspberry:

Red Hot Raspberry seems like a bright neon, fuchsia pink with silver shimmers and it is nowhere close to any red shade unlike its name; which might be misleading to people who choose their lip products online. However, the shade is really gorgeous with subtle and wearable shimmers, definitely a must try for fair-medium skin beauties. It looks more or less similar to that of my previous Maybelline Color Vivids “Vivid Rose” shade, though the Maybelline Vivid Rose is creamier unlike this shimmery Red Hot Raspberry shade, but they look same in bullet and on lips somehow.

The texture of Red Hot Raspberry came as pleasant surprise after my average experience with previous “Rush of Pink” shade. It is quite creamy and slathers on effortlessly on my lips, with no tugging and pulling. Even it works well on mild dry patches and flaky lips, though it is not a forgiving shade for chapped skin over all. But it certainly forgives mild dryness here and there, with beautiful fuchsia shimmery glossy stain which stays put for 4+ hours. It gives opaque finish with glossy shimmery hue in just 1-2 swipes without any streaky or bleeding on lips, which justifies its utility for beauties with pigmented lips as well. I am also impressed to see that this shade does not look frosty or glittery on my lips even with those shimmers. However, layering it on more than twice might be tricky.

I won’t say that it is balmy lipstick, but it is not drying either, it gives me perfect hydrated lips along with flush of intense pigmentation which works for good 4+ hours. I never used lip balm beneath this lipstick, which proves that it takes care of normal dry lips well, without accentuating any further issues. It does buzz a little after one heavy meal leaving behind pale pink stain, which is easily manageable with a slight touch up; while it does transfers to water/tea cups without feathering or buzzing off my lips surprisingly. Thankfully, it does not transfer any shimmers onto skin. Overall, I am quite happy with this product and highly recommend it to fair-light beauties preferably, I feel it might be tricky for dark/medium beauties as it tends to make me look bit dark at times when I wear it on my slightly tanned skin.

Let’s sum up pros and cons:

Pros of The Body Shop Colour Crush Lipstick in Red Hot Raspberry:

  • A gorgeous festive shimmery, fuchsia pink shade with subtle and wearable silver glitters.
  • It gives nearly opaque finishing in just 1-2 swipes, without settling in fine lines or feathering around.
  • It does not bleed on lips.
  • It effortlessly glides on normal dry lips, without accentuating any further issues.
  • I feel quite hydrated and soft lips as long as this fuchsia shade stays on my lips.
  • It seems way soft and moisturizing even with those shimmers.
  • The wear time is quite good above 4 hours with water/tea break.
  • It does not buzz off even with heavy meals, other then needing a light touch up stroke
  • It is intense pigmented and creamy to conceal medium-dark lip pigmentations.
  • A user-friendly  and travel-friendly packaging available on sale all year round.

Cons of The Body Shop Colour Crush Lipstick in Red Hot Raspberry:

  • It might be tricky for most of medium-pale Indian skin tones.
  • It is not a forgiving shade and texture for very dry, chapped skin.
  • Shimmers might be a turn-off for many.
  • It is not a red shade unlike it’s name Red Hot Raspberry suggests; in fact it is a true neon pink, fuchsia, pearlescent lipstick

Apart from these minor concerns I don’t have anything major to talk against this shade. I feel it is quite a wearable fuchsia plus shimmery shade, for light-fair skin tone. I love wearing it a lot these days as it works well with that foggy weather around giving a pinky charm to whole face. I will definitely get it again but only in winters, for me it is 4/5!
