The Body Shop Early Harvest Raspberry Body Scrub Review

The Body Shop Early Harvest Raspberry Body Scrub Review

I am so excited about this one – the TBS early harvest raspberry range and in particular, the body scrub.  The other body scrub that I had used – TBS Vineyard Peach had a creamy base, but this one is more like my all-time favorite TBS Strawberry Polish.  Read on for more details.

My Take on The Body Shop Early Harvest Raspberry Body Scrub:

The packaging is what makes you pick this body scrub immediately.  The scrub comes in the usual TBS tub packaging, which though looks attractive, it’s not hygienic at all.  I don’t mind body butter coming in a tub, but for body scrubs, which most of us tend to use in the bathrooms, with frequent dips into the tub to take the product out, doesn’t seem so good.  I would rather prefer the scrub came in the strawberry body polish kind of tube.

Truly, the texture reminds me of homemade raspberry jam 😛 The scrub particles consist of smaller and grittier walnut shell powder and then a bit larger but non-abrasive raspberry particles in a jam-like base.  The fragrance is a bit strong, I expected that it would be a bit sweet, but it’s not, it is you know what – strong!

I find that using this scrub on damp skin works the best – on wet skin, it does not exfoliate that well.  You would think that it might be harsh to use on dry skin, but it’s not at all harsh, the walnut particles are gritty and non abrasive.  The rapberry seeds do not have any rough edges and do not scratch the skin.  This scrub can give you an awesome bathing experience – those who like strawberry body polish, would love this one too.

There’s about 200 ml of scrub in the tub, by using it twice a week, it will last for about 1-1/2 months for me. Both mild and harsh scrub lovers will like the consistency of the granules since the raspberry seeds are not abrasive and the walnut granules are well rounded.

Coming to the effectiveness, it does work, gives me soft and smooth skin.  I am not so happy with the results when used on wet skin – it does not contain sugar that would melt off with water, but I feel the scrub just slips over wet skin without doing much exfoliation.  The granules do exfoliate well on damp and dry skin as I mentioned previously.  The other best thing is that it does not leave the bathroom terribly messy.  I had tried it on my face for once, but I think it’s not made for the face.  I do not find the skin excessively dry or stretchy after using this product, it does not strip the skin off moisture.

I had a deja vu moment when I first used this scrub – it reminded me of some other body polish that I had used earlier.  I recalled that my favorite Lotus Herbals Pomegranate and Plum Skin Polisher looks, feels, smells, and works the same way.  Only the raspberry seeds are kind of missing, but otherwise, I would say, it’s ditto!

The ingredients list is what impresses me – walnut shell powder, raspberry seed, honey, and raspberry fruit extract.  It’s a little treat that you can indulge on weekends as I mentioned previously.  But the one thing that I would mention is that if you are looking at just exfoliation – Lotus Herbals Skin Polisher and TBS strawberry polish come at a lower price than this one.  However, since this contains raspberry extract and is made through community fair trade ingredients, the extra price can be justified.
