The Body Shop Madagascan Vanilla Flower Perfume Oil Review

My Take on The Body Shop Madagascan Vanilla Flower Perfume Oil:

Packaging:

Cuteness!! A tiny yet sturdy glass bottle makes it look so adorable. It has a plastic screw cap which comes with an elongated applicator attached to it. Though the packaging screams cuteness, the screw cap could have been designed better. Just a little more of antique touch to it, and this packaging would have looked classy and vintage-y.

Apart from that, the applicator is just perfect to dab onto the pulse points. The glass bottle is sturdy enough to be carried on for touch ups. In fact I even started using this product due to its tiny little packaging.  Once when I was packing my makeup bag for a function, I was left with very little space to fit in a perfume bottle. That was the moment, this perfume oil came into my life :P.

The Body Shop Madagascan Vanilla Flower Perfume Oil

Since this was a gift from my friend, I did not really know about the existence of this fragrance. When I took the first whiff, it was that form of vanilla that I had never known before. I was pleasantly surprised and immediately impressed. This fragrance is mainly vanilla, but not bakery sweet types – sophisticated, sensuous, grown up vanilla 😛

The Body Shop Madagascan Vanilla Flower Perfume Oil

The Body shop has rightly described it as an oriental-vanilla-amber fragrance. It has a very sophisticated touch to it. Initially, when applied on the pulse points, it smells straight up vanilla-creamy amber and definitely a hint of floral, which I am not sure if it is vanilla flower, but it’s quite cloying for a non-floral folk like me. But right after a few minutes, it turns into a creamy mix of vanilla-amber and this combination goes till the fragrance completely fades on your skin.

It is a linear fragrance which does not have too much of depth to it. Throughout its stay on the skin, it mainly smells of vanilla-amber and it does not evolve into any other fragrance note.

Overall, it is a sweet yet very sophisticated vanilla fragrance which can impress a wide range of people. The perfume oil takes less than 10 seconds to get completely absorbed into the skin and definitely doesn’t turn greasy on application. It does not stain on fabric as well.

The longevity of this perfume oil is very impressive and stays for good 5 to 6 hours on my skin. I don’t really apply this on clothes, perfume oils are not supposed to be anyway.  The silage of this perfume oil is very strong in the first 2 hours, to an extent that it can be a little overwhelming in peak summers. But after that, it just settles into a mild creamy amber-ish vanilla which smells absolutely divine.

Since the fragrance is nothing too loud, it can be worn on any occasion. Specifically it would be absolutely delightful for a winter-evening date 😛

Lastly, summing up the pros and cons:

Pros of The Body Shop Madagascan Vanilla Flower Perfume Oil:

  • The Body Shop has nailed it with this vanilla fragrance as it smells absolutely divine and I feel very sophisticated when I apply this.
  • Packaging is travel friendly.
  • Smell lasts for good 5-6 hours.
  • Has a very strong silage and draws many compliments.
  • Does not feel greasy on application.
  • Does not stain clothes.
  • Does not irritate the skin at all.
  • One big thumbs up for bringing this fragrance out, as a perfume oil variant too.

Cons of The Body Shop Madagascan Vanilla Flower Perfume Oil:

  • Can be slightly overwhelming for non-floral fans right after application, after which the smell mellows down.

IMBB Rating:

4.5/5

Would I Repurchase The Body Shop Madagascan Vanilla Flower Perfume Oil?

This tiny bottle will easily last me for ages, and even after that if Body shop still have these on their shelves, I would definitely repurchase it.
