The Body Shop Metallic Eye Definer – Brilliant Blue
Searching for your perfect colored eyeliner can be a pain sometimes! Well, a short while ago I had a colored eyeliner phase. That is when I realized this fact and that how a colored eyeliner can totally make or break your look. The eye liner that I am reviewing today is a metallic finish pencil eye liner. It was an impulse buy in my case 🙂 Let’s see how it fared up:
Price: Rs. 550 for 1.25 gm.
The Body Shop’s product description:

Glides on easily to provide smooth and even coverage with great color pay-off and intense metallic effects to light up the eyes! Water-resistant formula, Dermatologist and Ophthalmologist approved.
Contains Marula oil.
My take on The Body Shop Metallic Eye Definer-Brilliant Blue:
I am a huge fan of TBS and it has never disappointed me, thus I hold high expectations from the brand. But this is one product from TBS that I don’t like much. It can neither be called a dud, nor a hit. But yes, every time I look up to this eye pencil I think ‘What was I thinking while purchasing this’ (ok it was an impulse buy, so it is more like ‘Why wasn’t I thinking while purchasing this’). The blue color of the eye liner pencil is not very flattering on my skin tone and I guess it would suit only a few skin tones out there. Looks pretty on hand but not so much on the eyes. My naani once saw it on my eyes and called it a ‘morni’ color :duh: On some days I find the shade very similar to anhydrous copper sulphate and on other days it looks a bit darker 😀 The pencil is buttery creamy soft though. It glides on the lids amazingly and can be smudged right after it is applied. But even after some time, it does not ‘set’ per se and can be smudged with just one swipe of your finger. I guess they have added too much of moisture ingredients in it. For summers, I have to store it in the fridge otherwise I see a good chance of it melting down on a single touch. The pigmentation is amazing. It needs just a single stroke to deliver a lot of color and the color stays put for a good 5-6 hours before it starts to fade. Due to its extreme buttery soft touch and texture, irrespective of how much I sharpen it, the tip of the pencil rounds up in a single stroke usage and I always end up having a thick blue line on the lid. Since it is said to be metallic, it contains very fine shimmery blue particles in it which thankfully do not travel elsewhere on the skin. But the micro-shimmer is a pain to remove even with olive oil and strong makeup removers. I had to struggle a lot to make my eyes completely glitter-free. For this reason, I do not use this pencil much. However, since it can be nicely smudged, it can be used well as a blue eyeshadow or to give a hint of blue in a smokey eye makeup. It is certainly not suitable for use on waterline or for tightlining. TBS claims it is opthalmologically safe but there is no ingredient list mentioned anywhere on the pencil or at the website. Thus I am not sure if it contains parabens or not.
There are four other colors in this series of metallic eyedefiner- Glowing Amethyst, Burnished Amber, Shimmering Steel and Vibrant Emerald. I really like the other two shades in this series of metallic eyeliner, Glowing Amethyst and Burnished Amber, but afraid to purchase them owing to such shimmer removal issues. TBS could have a done better job here!
Pros of The Body Shop Metallic Eye Definer – Brilliant Blue:
• Goes on buttery smooth, very creamy
• Amazingly pigmented
Cons of  The Body Shop Metallic Eye Definer – Brilliant Blue:
• Difficult to create thin lines due to its creamy buttery texture
• The shimmer! Removing it completely is a half hour job in itself
Final verdict: You can skip this one. There are several better options in blue eyeliners available in the market for lesser price. I am certainly not going to re-purchase this one!

The hue tends to change in different lights Gowthami, but the most irritating part is the shimmer and smudging *pan*
Usha….the color was so pretty, but TBS makeup has never impressed, not even the foundation *nababana*
There aren’t enough makeup products in TBS for oily skin Jomol *smug* . But do try the Shimmer Waves highlighter. It’s the best *hifive*
