The Body Shop Oils of Life Intensely Revitalizing Essence Lotion Review

I was thrilled to see this new line by The Body Shop and grabbed two products without even knowing what an “Essence Lotion” is. I like to keep my skin care regimen as simple as it can get for my skin is blemish-prone, but could not stop myself from picking this one up. I was oblivious to the concept of “essence” before buying this product and was clueless about the usage even after buying it. So, I did some research and found out that an essence is super lightweight and is used to enhance the efficacy of other products. It is often confused with a toner, as both have the same consistency. But, this one is different! Also, about usage, you are supposed to apply it over your face and then dab it into your skin. Last, yes it provides hydration, and is considered highly effective in anti-aging regimens.

INR 1895 for 160 ml

Product Description:
Enjoy a highly-sensorial experience: with its bi-phase (oil + water) formula, this Intensely Revitalizing Essence Lotion supremely combines the freshness of water and the nourishing feel of oil. Our Essence Lotion has a lightweight refreshing texture that glides onto skin and leaves a pleasurable soft touch finish without a greasy feel. Our Essence Lotion provides instant visible results while preparing and activating skin for the next steps of your routine.

Instantly: skin feels replenished with moisture and appears softened.
After 4 weeks: radiance is revived and skin appears smoother.

How to Use:
Shake the bottle before pouring a few drops into the palm of your hands or on a cotton pad. Apply onto the face every morning and evening, after cleansing and toning, but before a serum and cream. Avoid the eye area.

My Experience with The Body Shop Oils of Life Intensely Revitalizing Essence Lotion:

I like the packaging of this essence lotion solely because it is plastic, and not glass. I am not clumsy, but have to be extra careful while handling glass packaging, especially of skin care products. It comes nicely packaged in a white box, which has all the necessary details printed over it. I find it travel friendly too as the cap closes nicely and does not have the tendency to come off on its own. The fragrance is another plus point of this product. It smells pleasantly of roasted cumins, but in a nicer, sweeter way. You can smell the fragrance only if you sniff directly from the bottle or on the cotton pad. It disappears as soon as you apply the product on the skin. Isn’t that great?

The texture is just like any toner’s – super thin and runny. It gets spreads easily on the face and gets absorbed super-fast too. I know I am using a lot of “super” to describe the product, but that’s what it is. This one is meant for all skin types, and can be easily used during summers too. The formula is bi-phase (oil + water), so make sure you shake the bottle well each time before using it. It does not make my normal-dry skin greasy or oily. You need to put on other products like creams and oils after it, so it doesn’t feel heavy, cakey or layered. It just seeps into the skin.

Now coming to the performance, it does every single thing it claims. It is an excellent product for all skin types and I guess for all seasons too. This one won’t feel drying in winters or oily in summers/monsoons. It actually delivers a nice experience and makes my skin feel fresh. As claimed, it leaves my skin instantly soft and hydrated. I was expecting it to create a tingling sensation, but it actually calms the skin down. My skin feels nourished and healthy, and does not ask for extra moisture for some time. However, I do use the oil from this range after using this essence. It also feels reassuring to know that this product actually increases the efficacy of other products in my skin care regimen, especially of other products from this range.

Overall I am very happy with the product and with the way it performs. However, having said that, I would not call it a must-have in everyone’s skin care regimen. Like, people with normal, clear, healthy skin need not get it. If you already have a strong skin care regimen, don’t invest in this one. To see clear results, you need to use it with its sister products too.

Pros of The Body Shop Oils of Life Intensely Revitalizing Essence Lotion:

• Does everything it claims
• Packaging
• Super lightweight
• Makes skin instantly soft
• Sweet fragrance
• Doesn’t dry out my skin
• Doesn’t make my skin greasy
• Gets absorbed easily
• Increases the efficacy of other skin care products
• Has never broken me out

Cons of The Body Shop Oils of Life Intensely Revitalizing Essence Lotion:

• Doesn’t do anything groundbreaking, doesn’t claim though
• Not a must-have if you don’t use other products from this range

IMBB Rating:

Would I Repurchase The Body Shop Oils of Life Intensely Revitalizing Essence Lotion?
My skin and I love this range. My skin has improved a lot with usage of this range. I would get it again only if I buy other products from this range.

Would I Recommend The Body Shop Oils of Life Intensely Revitalizing Essence Lotion?
It is an excellent product, and you can try it out. But, it is not a must-have and you can do without it, especially if you have limited budget, or are not using its sister products.
