My Experience with The Body Shop Papaya Body Butter:

I am absolutely in love with the body butters from The Body Shop. I wouldn’t know what to do without them. I need them, especially during the winter when my skin needs all the moisture it can get. It leaves your skin soft and smooth, it’s very moisturizing.  This body butter has a very nice scent, it’s not too strong nor too “artificial” and smells amazingly just like fresh papaya. It’s a feminine fragrance that is quite delicious and which makes me feel fresh, clean and pampered. I enjoy smelling my own skin after I have applied this as the fragrance is long lasting and remains smelling clean and crisp for a long time after application. This is a fragrance that would appeal to all ages of women.

The tub is made of hard plastic and has a top which screws off very easily. After you are done using it, the tub could possibly be cleaned out an re-used to hold something else though. The tub has a label on the top which shows a picture of a delicious, fresh papaya. It looks exotic and was an appealing image to entice me to buy the product. There is also a label on the bottom of the tub which you can peel back to reveal full ingredients and instructions for use.

The body butter is a pale peach colour and looks rather like a cheesecake in a pot. It has a greasy sheen to it which makes it look moist. You have to stick your fingers into the butter to scoop some out which can seem unhygienic to some. The butter has a thick, waxy consistency. It softens as you spread it but nevertheless is a little more stiff than runny body lotion. I therefore prefer to apply this to places like my arms, knees, feet and elbows. If I want to apply it in other places, I rub it in my palms for a while to make it extra creamy and then I apply it.

Due to the thick and sticky consistency of the body butter, it means that you don’t need a lot. If you use too much, you can feel like your skin is a bit heavy and damp. A con I would list here is that sometimes it feels like it does not absorb well into the skin and creates a layer on it .You would only feel that when you are washing that area of skin where it is applied.

The body butter is intensely moisturizing and is particularly excellent on dry areas like the bottom of your feet. It really softens the driest, hardest areas. It makes your skin feel supple and in great condition. I feel like I am giving my skin a makeover when I use this.  The Body Shop says that this provides 24-hour hydration and I agree with them. This keeps me feeling good all day.

Pros of The Body Shop Papaya Body Butter:

  • Leaves skin soft, supple and moisturized all day.
  • Fresh fruity scent.
  • A little goes a long way.
  • The Body Shop is against animal testing.

Cons of The Body Shop Papaya Body Butter:

  • Does not absorb into skin well.
  • Not suitable for oily skin.
  • Limited edition.
  • Expensive, better to get it during sale.
