The Body Shop Passion Fruit Body Butter Review

The Body Shop Passion Fruit Body Butter Review

Hi Everyone!

Winter has arrived earlier this year, and we need to take extra care of our skin this season to keep it healthy and nourished. So today, I will review The Body Shop Passion Fruit Body Butter which is meant to protect the skin and provide much required moisturization to the skin.  Usually, I use just moisturizers or body lotions but since this was gifted to me, I had to try it out. It belongs to the “Passion Fruit” range, of which the shower gel I have reviewed earlier.

The Body Shop Passion Fruit Body Butter Review

Product Description:

An intensive creamy all-over body moisturizer. It absorbs into the skin easily, helping to condition, soften and smooth the skin and prevent dryness, leaving your skin moisturised for up to twenty four hours. With passion fruit seed oil to moisturize. For Normal to Dry Skin.

How To Use:

Exfoliate to remove dead skin cells before moisturizing with Passion Fruit Body Butter. Pat some onto the skin and massage into your skin, as often as required.

Price:

It costs INR 775 for 200 mL of product, which is somewhat pricey, but it does last really long, so it is kind of worth it.

Ingredients:

There is a HUGE list of ingredients which I could not copy, so I have posted a pic of the same!

TBS passion fruit ingredients

Contains Community Trade Shea butter sourced from Ghana, Community Trade Cocoa butter made using cocoa beans from Ghana, and Melon seed oil from Namibia, in addition to Passion Fruit seed oil. But there are parabens listed (they’re everywhere, aren’t they? Thinking of doing research on them) 🙁

My Experience with The Body Shop Passion Fruit Body Butter:

This is a product that stands true to its name. It really does feel somewhat like butter, as in the smooth texture, but as is the case with butter, it does feel somewhat ‘buttery’ or ‘oily’ on my hands after I have applied this.  There is quite a strong fragrance of passion fruit in the body butter, which can get a bit overwhelming at first, and some people who are sensitive to smells may not appreciate it. Personally I like it, as I more or less got used to it. It lingers on for a long, long time after application. In fact, after applying this, my whole room keeps smelling of passion fruit for a while!! 😀

The packaging is like the standard The Body Shop Body Butters, the round tub packaging, with a screw-top lid. It is purple in color, and looks similar to the shower gel packaging with pictures of passion fruit. I do not really like the tub packaging though because a) it’s not hygienic b) it’s difficult to get it out without getting product into my long nails.

It is light purple-mauve in colour and looks quite pretty. It is one of the reasons I like it. I am tired of using white-colored moisturizers, and find them too mainstream/boring 😛

The texture of the body butter is somewhat heavy but soft. It is written though that it is suited more for dry skin. As it is, I do not really use it during summers, unless I’m having one of my dry skin days (generally I have normal skin). For summers, I use The Body Shop Strawberry Body Lotion, which is much lighter, and gets absorbed really easy. This takes a little while to get absorbed. But during winters, it really is well suited, and provides intense moisturization for a long time. But once I do apply it, my skin gets really smooth and buttery, and feels very good to touch! 😀  It will be a blessing for dry skin, and for winters.

Pros of The Body Shop Passion Fruit Body Butter:

  • It does what it says – provides long-lasting moisturization to normal-dry skin.
  • Contains Passion Fruit Seed oil, Shea Butter, Cocoa butter and Melon Seed Oil to moisturize.
  • Passion Fruit fragrance lingers for a long time.
  • Against Animal Testing.
  • Keeps skin moisturized for a long time.
  • Takes very less amount, so would last quite long.
  • Provides good moisturization during winters, or for dry skin.
  • Cute purple color 😀

Cons of The Body Shop Passion Fruit Body Butter:

  • Strong fragrance may not be liked by all.
  • Contains parabens.
  • Tub packaging is not easy to use/hygienic.
  • Somewhat heavy for all-year round use (would be suitable for dry skin).
  • Somewhat expensive.
  • Hands become somewhat oily/buttery after application.

IMBB Rating:

3.5/5

Overall Verdict:

I can’t use it too much as I have normal skin, so trying to use as much as possible during winters! 😀  It does do what it claims to quite well, so no complaints regarding that, but I think I will stick to my Strawberry Body Lotion in the future, but I do recommend it to dry-skinned people.
