The Body Shop Rainforest Radiance Hair Butter Review

Hello friends,

A few months ago, I had picked up a hair butter from Body Shop and here is my review on Body Shop Rainforest Radiance Hair butter for colored hair.

My hair is extremely dry and becomes very unmanageable after hair wash. Hair conditioner is something which I can never skip in my routine. I have color-treated hair, which has already made it very brittle, and every time I use conditioners and leave-in-hair serums, I feel guilty about the chemicals that I keep layering on my hair. When I saw that Body Shop had hair butter especially for colored hair, I picked it up.

The Body Shop Rainforest Radiance Hair Butter

Hair butter was a new concept for me as I was not sure if it was similar to body butter or how to use it. But down the line, I found it to be something that works better than hair conditioner, but with lesser messiness involving hair mask.  So, let’s see whether the product is a hit or a miss?

The Body Shop Rainforest Radiance Hair Butter For Colored Hair Packaging:

The hair butter comes in a light green wide-mouthed plastic tub. Yes, we do have to dip our fingers to get the hair butter out, but that is a small glitch. The hair butter smells amazing, like a bouquet of flowers and very fresh. It looks like whipped cream having the same light texture and color. I found the hair butter very easy to apply on to hair strands.

This hair butter is especially for color-treated hair. It also comes in a travel-sized option, which is a smaller version of the tub though this tub can also be easily carried if you are travelling. Body Shop also has another version of hair butter under the moisture range series which was reviewed by Rati here.

Price:

6.7 oz.(190 g or 200 ml) tub is priced at $14.

How To Use:

My Experience with The Body Shop Rainforest Radiance Hair Butter:

After shampooing my hair clean, I apply the hair butter on wet hair. The instructions mentions to keep only for 5 minutes, but I usually keep it for 10 -15 minutes though I think the time difference does not make much impact. The hair butter is very easy to rinse off. After that, I just let my hair air dry.

In comparison to the Dove conditioner that I use, this hair butter makes my hair smell amazingly good. The fragrance in the hair stays for 3-4 days until my next hair wash. As my hair is dry, I still tend to get tangles, but I have observed that:

1) There are lesser tangles when I use this hair butter.

2) The tangles are comparatively easier to remove too.

It has oil extracts like Olive oil from Community fair trade in Italy and linseed oil, but in no way, it makes my hair fall flat or greasy. It also has added advantage that it does not have silicones, parabens or colorants in it. I did not find that the hair butter added any shine to my hair and neither did I see any difference that it would prolong the hair color in my hair. It also claims to contain UV filter to protect colored hair.

In comparison to my Dove hair conditioner, I have observed that the hair butter adds more softness to my hair. Every time I would run my fingers through my hair, it would feel more manageable. Also, when I use hair conditioner after my hair dries completely, I have to definitely use a few drops of oil on my hair ends to prevent frizziness, but with the hair butter, I have lesser fly-aways. However, I would not say that the hair butter has completely replaced my conditioner. It just works better than my conditioner.

Pros of The Body Shop Rainforest Radiance Hair Butter:

  • Makes hair softer and more manageable, especially for colored and dry hair.
  • Amount sufficient to last multiple uses depending on hair length.
  • Fragrance is floral and fresh.
  • Hair continues to smell fragrant even after 3-4 days.
  • No silicones, parabens or colorants in product.
  • Lesser tangles if you have frizz-prone hair.
  • Has UV filter to protect hair.
  • Works better than hair conditioner.

Cons of The Body Shop Rainforest Radiance Hair Butter:

  • Does not add any additional shine to hair.
  • Does not help in prolonging hair color for additional time.
  • A little pricey.

IMBB Rating:

4/5, great treatment for hair without having any silicones or parabens.

Would I Repurchase The Body Shop Rainforest Radiance Hair Butter?

Yes, I would continue to buy this product until I find a better conditioner without any silicones or parabens.

I love TBS rainforest shampoos but haven’t tried hair butter yet.
This one says for “colored hair” but mine is not colored hair. Sceptical about trying this one.
