My Experience with The Body Shop Satsuma Beautifying Oil:

The Body shop launched its “Beautifying Oils” that can be used on hair, body, face; a while back in different variants like Brazil nut, Chocomania, Cocoa butter, coconut, mango, Olive , moringa, pink grapefruit, strawberry , Vanilla, Sweet Lemon, Shea, and lastly the Satsuma one which I am reviewing today. I tried most of these at the store, but liked the citrusy satsuma one the most(fragrance wise). It was interesting to see that the oil is multipurpose, i.e., it can be used for face, hair and body.I mostly steer clear of facial oils because of my combination-oily skin (cannot stand heavy/intense moisturisers; forget oils, but when I tried it at the store, it felt so light that I could not give it a miss (plus it has my all time favourite satsuma fragrance).  Another thing that left me intrigued was the fact that this is a “dry oil” (never heard of it before).

The Body Shop Satsuma Beautifying Oil

The Body Shop Beautifying oil comes in a simple, small sized, light weight, plastic bottle with a flip cap.  Since it’s a see-through packaging, you can get an idea how much quantity you are left with.  The bottle holds a clear/colorless, extremely lightweight oil which is thin in consistency. It has this amazing, strong, typical satsuma fragrance that casts a citrus blast on the senses , totally love and enjoy it. If you are a fan of citrus fragrances, you will definitely like it too.

The Body Shop Satsuma Beautifying Oil

The oil seeps/sinks/absorbs into the skin very easily without leaving behind any greasy residue or stickiness, just a hint of luminosity.I used this oil last winters on my facial skin, in place of a night cream and I was amazed how well it worked on my combination-oily skin without giving me any breakouts. My skin felt nourished and soft after using this; but that was the case for my winter skin when it does need some moisture as compared to my “summer time” skin.

The Body Shop Satsuma Beautifying Oil

At the moment, I use this oil only 2-3 times in a week to do a slight massage before I sleep and it does prove to be a good facial oil. You can also try this instead of a massage cream when you do your facials next. Sometimes, I mix a drop or two of this oil in my foundation and it gives a nice, dewy finish

The oil can also be used on just the hair ends, like a leave-in treatment to make them nourished ,shiny and easy to detangle; without getting too heavy/greasy (just like a hair serum). When used for a head massage, it feels light; the citrusy fragrance is very relaxing plus it comes off easily with shampooing in one time only.

The Body Shop Satsuma Beautifying Oil

Overall, I really like this “beautifying oil” by The Body Shop.  I never dared to use oils on my face (since I have oily/acne-prone skin), but with this, I have never had any problem at all.  It’s a good multipurpose oil, but to be honest, I have mostly used it for my facial skin as I feel it is a little too expensive to be used as hair and body oil.  I have personally used just this particular satsuma version of beautifying oils, so I can’t compare it with other versions like olive, shea, etc., and tell whether they would be as good as this satsuma one for facial skin or not. If you have normal to dry skin, you should give this product a shot ! I will definitely repurchase another bottle of this or may be the moringa version.

Summing up:

  • Amazing citrus fragrance, pure love!
  • Lightweight oil.
  • Does not leave behind any sticky/greasy residue.

  • Decent packaging.

What I Don’t Like about The Body Shop Satsuma Beautifying Oil:

  • Just 100 ml for INR 895 ( I think the price has been increased now).
