Why should you buy The Body Shop Shea Lip Butter?

  • It’s actually a butter. πŸ˜€ I have never used such buttery lip balm.
  • It gives a nice glossy finish to your lips. A good substitute for a lip gloss. The product has very pretty light and transparent shimmer to it.
  • It smells very soothing and delicious, something like vanilla.
  • It keeps your lips moisturized for long hours (read 3-4 hours).
  • Cute convenient packaging
  • The product is ample to last you for 3-4 months depending on your usage. I apply lip balm almost 3-4 times a day.

Why should you not buy The Body Shop Shea Lip Butter?

  • It’s painfully expensive for a lip balm/ butter.
  • How much I hate these wide mouthed tubs where I have to dip my finger to get the product out. Still I end up buying them because I find them cute. πŸ˜›
  • In summers , it would melt to a something messy. Then I would be grossed out and then leave the half tub unused. So it’s actually my fault that I bought such a buttery product when summers are just round the corner.

Would I repurchase it?

There is nothing wrong with the product but there is nothing great about it that I would spend some 250 bucks to repurchase it. I did feel the need to reapply it during the day. It’s more of a luxury product and that’s what they are mainly charging you for. πŸ™‚

If you are buying it, my only word of caution would be that you need very tiny bit to apply on your lips. Or else the extra butter would not get absorbed in your lips and would just dry white on your lips. Then your lips would feel all chappy, crappy and flaky. πŸ˜€ Imagine how a butter reacts if it doesn’t get absorbed in bread. What gets absorbed, makes the bread soft and moist and the rest just sits on top of the bread.

IMBB Rating: 2/5

UPDATE :

I ended up hating this butter finally. It turned gooey and gross after some time and stopped working on my lips. Wouldn’t recommend anyone to purchase it.

I think i’ll go by your experince and give this miss, as it is I have a bad history with open pots of lip balm.

Somehow they always get infected as i apply them very frequently.

  3. Sarah, if you are a lip balm addict you can give it a try. Yes, women! πŸ˜€ Damn! you must go to Tanveer’s blog and take that shopaholic test. I bet you would be guilty. I am still not over with the guilt. πŸ˜›

Tanveer, I don’t think you would miss anything. I had just heard so much about these lip butters so I just gave them a try. Didn’t find them exceptional to go ga ga over them.

And most welcome. did these reviews quickly because of the sale only. πŸ™‚

    1. Really? I am not a huge fan of it but it kind of works well. The only drawback I am seeing during these summer days is that it is melting and I am not quite liking it. I am so glad you are loving it and it is working well for you. πŸ™‚ Here is the cocoa body butter lotion review:

  9. I love love love this! I bought it last week and boy does this work or what?! I apply it at night and in the morning my lips are so smooth:) i wouldn’t do this in the day a) it has no SPF b) looks a tad white on the lips. My lips are otherwise dry 247 and after using this i don’t feel the need to apply a lip balm every 20 mins or so!
