The Body Shop Shimmer Waves Shade Bronze Review

The Body Shop Shimmer Waves Shade Bronze

By Vasudha Ranjan

Hey you gorgeous ladies. Okay, I need to take a moment here and breathe. I’m writing for IMBB.

WOW! This is my first blog post here and I’m trembling with nervousness. I have read a gazillion amazing reviews here and I hope I am able to do this right and be a part of this beautiful community you guys have created. So here I go! A few days before my birthday this year, my mom made a trip to Connaught Place and guess where she went to TBS. She came back with two absolutely stunning products, The Shimmer Waves in Bronze and the Strawberry Body Mist. Yayyyyy! Today I’ll be reviewing The Shimmer Waves in Bronze.

The Body Shop’s Shimmer Waves come in three shades – Bronze, Blush & Coral

Here’s what The Body Shop website has to say about the product:

Five shimmering shades for face and cheeks in one neat compact. Use them together or individually
• Five shades
• Shimmering
• For face and cheeks
• Dermatologically tested

The packaging: This product comes in a square transparent plastic box. This is a good thing since you don’t need to open the packaging to see the product. The box is pretty sturdy and I know this for a fact because on days when I’m running late for work, I just shove it into my handbag and it has held up well so far. The back is clutter free with a sticker specifying the shade, quantity and a barcode. The product weighs 8.5 grams.

The Product : There are 5 warm shades in this palette and they’re all very wearable and neutral. This product is a Godsend for all make up maniacs. I use it as a bronzer (the intended use), eyeshadow, highlighter and sometimes even for contouring. I have a very difficult skintone and finding a foundation that matches my shade is just impossible. They’re always a tad darker or lighter than my shade even though they look perfect at the store. I am guilty of owning a couple of foundations a shade or two lighter than my actual skintone. On days when I use those foundations and look like a ghost, I like to swirl my brush all over this product and bronze up the outline of my face and voila, it warms up my face like magic.

How does it wear: The product is called Shimmer Waves and it does have a lot of shimmer but it doesn’t make you look like a disco ball. Having said that, moderation is the key with this product and you can go wrong if you’re too heavy handed or layer it up. The 5 waves are big enough to dunk your brush in and use as eye shadows individually and I use shades 5 & 1 for highlighting (bridge of the nose, brow bone and inner eye corners). This product is so versatile and that’s what makes it worth it. Also, it is a great dupe for the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Bronze as the shades are almost similar. The formula is not as creamy as Bobbi Brown’s but its not bad by any means. The palette is not too powdery or too creamy and I do have to run my brush a few times over the shades to get enough product. The pigmentation is great.

Seriously, you ladies should give this product a try at least once. It may seem expensive for a single product but trust me, the amount of use you can get out of this one product will amaze you.

Pros of The Body Shop Shimmer Waves :

• Multi-purpose product
• Great value for money
• Good pigmentation
• Choice of shades
• Photographs beautifully

Cons of The Body Shop Shimmer Waves :

  • May get too shimmery if applied heavily
  • A little pricey
  • Brittle packaging
  • May not suit cool and fair skin tones.

Price : It was a gift. Rs. 1595 on the website

Would I buy TBS shimmer waves again?

YES. But I won’t need to because there’s so much product that I won’t run out of this for a long time to come.

IMBB Rating:

4.5/5
