The Body Shop Smoky Plum Carbon Eye Definer Review

Hello Friends…

Hope all of you are enjoying 2015 with new energy, dreams and wish list. Today, I am here to share my last year’s purchase from The Body Shop which ended up being a dud, sadly. I own few The Body Shop makeup products, and I like them except few; like this Smoky Plum Carbon Eye Definer which I will discuss today. So, let’s get started.

• Natural waxes help to enable smooth, easy application while moisturizing and conditioning delicate eye skin.

My Experience with The Body Shop Smoky Plum Carbon Eye Definer:

This smoky plum eye definer comes in non-retractable pencil packaging with product at one end and smudger at the other, safely enclosed in plastic cap. Over all, quite user friendly and travel friendly packaging. But, I would really appreciate if these cosmetic companies start including a sharpener with their pencil eye or lip products to ease our task of finding right sharpener for their product just like L’Oreal Paris does with their voluminous smouldering eye definer pencils or Bobbi Brown does for almost every eye/lip pencil products so far.

Well, I am not very happy with this purchase, even though, I bought it for half of its original price. I own few of TBS Eye Definers in shade Bronze and Copper Brown and so far, like them for their soft, smooth texture & intense pigmentation. But, this one is simply opposite.

I found it really dry and hard to pull on my eye lids and lash line, even after several attempts which includes endless rubbing off to soften the tip or even heating the tip over candle flame. I even tried replacing this packaging with fresh piece. But, I guess all pieces are exactly similar in texture and finish.

I also discovered that this Smoky Plum Definer comes out as brown prune on skin which is not exactly plum. So, it might be a disappointment for us; especially, if we wish that stark plum eyes unlike brown plum shade.

I could not dare use it on my water line considering it has a really hard and rough texture which hardly glides on my lash line without scratching my skin. It is intensely pigmented, but guess the too-much-waxy texture of pencil fails to deliver any color pay off on skin.

I am also not sure if it is smudge proof and water proof as it easily fades and smudges even as a hand swatch with gentle massaging. However, smudging & bleeding issue comes into light only if we are able to wear it on our eyes. And, to be honest, that nearly seems impossible to me as of now.

I wonder that even after so many failures, how could TBS launch another failure product in the market that too with sky high price.:P

I think it’s wise to stay away from this particular Plum Smoky Eye Definer because the whole lot is defective and none of them work on our skin. I would say simply skip this eye definer with no second thought. It is a mere dud and don’t get it even if you get it free as a gift.:P One can simply predict its texture by looking at pictures and hand swatches even. I won’t consider this range in my shopping list again.

Let’s sum up pros and cons:

Pros of The Body Shop Smoky Plum Carbon Eye Definer:

• The concept of making an eye definer with smudger was real good idea.
• Ingredients list was quite fascinating apart from their tall claims.

Cons of The Body Shop Smoky Plum Carbon Eye Definer:

• The shade in itself is a bluff with brown plum unlike smoky plum shade.
• Texture is hard and rough enough to hurt our sensitive eyes with zero pigmentation.
• It will certainly smudge as it tends to smudge in my hand swatches even.

IMBB Rating:

0.5/5!

Conclusion:

Well, I am really disappointed with this Smoky Plum. I had really high hopes with the shade as this was what I had been waiting for. I would say just skip skip skip it, it’s mere disappointment which is really overrated and overpriced for nothing.
