The Body Shop Spa Wisdom Africa Ximenia and Salt Scrub Review

Hi Everyone,

How is the New Year coming up for all of you.  It is continuing to be too hot here in Australia with bush fire breakouts in some places.  I am trying all possible ways to stay cool.  Back to the review, I would like to share my thoughts on The Body Shop Spa Wisdom Ximenia Salt Scrub today.  I initially tried this in store in Canberra at the Body Shop and was impressed, but didn’t want to fork out around $50. However, I again saw it in KL and the SA let me try it out in the store and gave me a mini hand spa treatment. I really wanted to try it as it worked out to AUD 33 only as it was RM 99.  I immediately bought it and it lasted me for around 3 months when I used it a couple of times a week.

My Experience with The Body Shop Spa Wisdom Africa Ximenia and Salt Scrub:

Both times, I tried this in the store at Body Shop, I was hooked to this product. I really wanted to buy it, but it was too expensive in Australia. So, as soon as I saw this in Malaysia for a reasonable price, I purchased this quickly even though hubby was not quite happy. What happened was as soon as I saw this after passing the arrival lounge, I sent my hubby to exchange some cash and then he had to stay outside The Body Shop (as trolleys with luggage weren’t allowed inside because of the space issue at TBS), I browsed TBS and purchased some goodies including this salt scrub.

This is actually a long overdue review as I have finished the whole tub a couple of months back and currently using Soap and Glory body scrubs. This product comes in a big tub which looks like tubs used in spas, it definitely gives a spa-like feel.

TBS Salt Scrub 4

This scrub is super thick and is white in colour. Because it is super thick, one tablespoon amount is allowed for the whole body, as a result this lasts for a long time. I use this scrub on dry skin or damp skin only and never on wet skin for best results. As this is a salt scrub, after using water, it also foams a little bit and the scrub actually melts away. My skin feels soft, a little bit moisturised and also pampered after using this product. This scrub, even though is a salt scrub is thick and is even suitable for use on sensitive skin. Even after using this scrub for the first time, I felt it exfoliated well and made my skin smooth and the rough areas improved. Also, because of the oils in the product, I can even skip using moisturiser unless it is really cold weather.

TBS Salt Scrub 5

Pros of The Body Shop Spa Wisdom Africa Ximenia and Salt Scrub:

  • Exfoliates well without being too abrasive.
  • Comes in a cute jar and gives a spa-like feel.
  • Contains Ximenia Americana seed oil to provide moisture to skin.
  • A small amount is enough for the whole body and this jar lasts a long time.
  • Does not contain parabens.

Cons of The Body Shop Spa Wisdom Africa Ximenia and Salt Scrub:

  • Quite expensive at around AUD 50 in Australia.
  • A jar packaging is not very user friendly in the shower and I use a spatula each time and try not to get water in to the tub.

IMBB Rating:

4.75/8

Will I Repurchase The Body Shop Spa Wisdom Africa Ximenia and Salt Scrub?

I have reduced points only because of the price.  I have finished using this tub and switched on to Soap and Glory only because this is overpriced in Australia. However, if I travel, I will definitely repurchase this.
