Today’s review is about a highlighting pen from the very popular Korean brand called The Face Shop. It is a new launch and I was very keen on trying this one, looking at its pen-like packaging. Let’s read the review to know how this pen functions and get to know more about the product.

My Experience with The Face Shop CC Highlighting Cushion:
I wanted to buy a highlighter in general, and when I came across this pen, I gave it a shot after reading its product description. I received this product a few weeks ago but I still wanted to use it a couple of times before finally reviewing it. So, I actually waited a bit and used it a lot to find out how it fares in various areas.
This highlighting cushion comes protected in a pale green cardboard box and all the instructions, ingredients and direction to apply have been mentioned on the cardboard box. I am glad they’ve mentioned the directions to use it because this was my first ever try with a pen-like highlighting cushion.
At first, I had no idea how I would use this but the direction and the instructions made it clear to me. You need to click the button at the bottom to let the cushion absorb the product. Then you need to apply it in the areas you wish to highlight and blend it after the application. It’s that simple!
This looks exactly like a tic-tac pen with a button on the bottom. This kind of packaging is easy to carry when you are travelling. If you plan to do a dewy makeup look or just highlight your face this would be a great option during travels. It is actually better than carrying heavy bottles of illuminators or highlighting palettes.
This is a lightweight, sturdy plastic pen. The color combination is dull white pen with a beige coloured sticker. This packaging is not very functional and there are many issues with the packaging. The sticker is prone to scratches and may come off easily after multiple uses. After which, it wouldn’t look nice or fancy.
The cushion in the front is a little hard – it is not soft at all. I am not very comfortable while using it. And also, I have faced a lot of problems during the application process. Sometimes the product delivers the product with ease and sometimes I find it very hard to get the product out from the cushion. Initially, it delivers the product well by just pressing the button; the problem arises if you continuously use it or after a couple of uses.
It is a pearly light pink highlight with silver micro shimmers in it. It smells good during the process of application and the fragrance in the highlighter lasts a long time. When I tried to sniff it, it smelled beautiful, like a body lotion. This is the only shade available in their range. I wish they had other shade options too. This shade would look good on fair to medium skin tones. However, I don’t think people with dusky tones can carry this shade. Since it has silver shimmer and it’s a light pink shade it may look cakey/ashy on darker skin tones.
It takes a couple of minutes for the product to get absorbed in the skin. You may need to blend it out after the application. I tried to blend this with the cushion in the front and then it looked a little patchy. Since I am not very comfortable with the cushion I decided to use a sponge to blend out the product. It adds a lovely sheen and subtle glow to the face. If you prefer a dewy look with a subtle, natural-looking glow, this might work for you.
The issue with this highlighting cushion is that when I try to apply this over my foundation its cushion picks up the blended foundation and I have to reapply the foundation. This happens because the cushion is hard to use. When I try to apply it on the cheekbones it picks up the blush too; when I try to apply the highlighter on my nose the colour of the blush got transferred to the nose.
I would rather suggest dispensing the highlighter on the back of the hand and blending the product with a sponge on the desired areas of the face. Thus, the whole concept of having a pen-like highlighter for convenient application and usage fails here. The staying power isn’t great either. It lasts around 4 hours maximum, after which it fades completely.
The only thing I like about this highlighting cushion is that it highlights my nose well and looks amazing by making my nose look longer. The packaging makes it very convenient for me to use this product on my nose. I just need to drag the pen and follow my nose bone to highlight it.
This has become my go-to product for highlighting my nose and I always reach out for this one when I wish to highlight my nose. I am glad this highlighting cushion has been useful for me at least this way.

No! It’s not worth the price you pay. I won’t recommend this to anyone.
