Hi, everyone!

I’m here with another review, though this time it’s about a cleansing tool from the famous Korean brand, The Face Shop. A few months back, I did a tiny haul at The Face Shop. I don’t usually experiment a lot with my skincare products, as my skin is highly resistant to any change. It retaliates very badly and unfortunately, I have gone through it a lot of times. Looking at my skin, the sales assistant at the store recommended this charcoal infused Konjac sponge to me, and finding it relatively inexpensive, I finally picked it up to give it a try. Read on to know how it worked for my problematic skin.

My Experience with The Face Shop Charcoal and Konjac Cleansing Puff:

The Face Shop Charcoal and Konjac Cleansing Puff Review Package

Packaging: It comes in a sealed plastic sachet packaging with visible water droplets to keep the puff moist. As soon as you open the sachet, you will find a black colored water-drop shaped sponge which is exactly like jelly and has a very soft texture. It’s very squishy and gentle with no fragrance in it, whatsoever. It comes with a string attached to it, which allows you to hang it on the wall after the use. It’s very light to hold and is quite travel-friendly.

Konjac cleansing sponges have been around for a while but recently have gotten a lot of attention. But, Konjac sponges have had my attention for a while now. They look like pumice stones, feel like sponges and exfoliate your skin like a dream. Konjac sponges originated in Japan and are made out of konjac root (also known as konnayaku or devil’s tongue). Konjac is a root that has been used for food, medicine, and beauty for ages. Konjac sponges claim to give you radiant skin and help you with acne, blackheads, and other skin issues.

I really love this little sponge, but to be honest, I was quite skeptical before buying it. The sales assistant suggested that I could use it with the foam cleanser or alone as well. I’ve tried it both ways, with a foam cleanser and without a cleanser as well, but I actually like it better with the foaming cleanser. I typically use this in the night, taking my cleanser over the sponge for a mild exfoliation. I used it regularly for a few weeks to see if it made a difference, and though it hasn’t made my acne vanish completely, I have definitely noticed a lot of improvement in my skin. I have noticed fewer spots, and especially during that time of the month when my skin just hates me and looks absolutely dull no matter what I do, by using this regularly, I do feel my skin is squeaky clean and breaks out less.

On a regular basis, my face feels squeaky clean after using the sponge. My blackheads have reduced significantly and my pores look smaller. Overall, I am in love with this little sponge and it’s quite strange that I have spent so many years without trying this amazing skincare product.

A bit of warning is that the Konjac Puff does break over time. It comes with a small shelf life of two to three months. I’ve used mine for about two months and have noticed that it’s already beginning to tear from the middle. To preserve the puff for long, I make sure to rinse out any cleansing foam and soak it in lukewarm water. Thereafter, I refrigerate it by keeping it in a zipper pouch, so that it remains moist and doesn’t dry up. If the sponge dries up, it becomes hard and loses its jelly-like texture.
