The Waistcoat Trend

THE WAISTCOAT TREND

Hi Ladies

Hope you are fine and thanks for your lovely responses in my previous articles on the jumpsuit and the cowl neck. So today I have come with a new article on the WAISTCOAT Trend. Earlier I had the notion that waistcoats are meant only for the top business man and woman, CEOs or the people from the corporate world. But my entire notion was broken into pieces and I was going gaga over the waistcoat after I saw cute Parineeti Chopra sporting the trend quite casually in Ishaqzaade. It is like the onset of a new trend in the fashion world. The pairing of the waist coat with kurti is all that can feed an Indian woman’s confidence. I appreciate the merging of the western with the ethnic that result into a unique yet very classy amalgamation.

This is how Parineeti looked with her white salwar kameez topped with a black kurta.

Waistcoats in all forms, shapes and bright colors, different fabrics, even the denim ones are really making their mark in the world of style and glamour this season. It adds a touch of structure to our body and qualifies any outfit that you wear. Even during the light winters when cold winds have just blowing into we can team up a waistcoat with our t-shirt or even with a dress.

2. When we are talking about a current fashion trend, it is totally not possible to keep Kim Kardashian in distance. She is the Diva and has styled the denim waist coat in the most trendiest way. Look at those heels!!

3. Jessica Alba is looking really apt for the summers. Her waistcoat, pink colored denims, glares and those flats making it just perfect for a summer day-out . Isn’t she looking awesome??

4. Brooklyn Dekker has just robbed my heart off with her white dress and that olive colored waistcoat.

5. Sienna Miller has dressed the perfect way for a shopping day-out. That criss-cross bag made her look really sporty and casual. Teenagers can pretty much dress like her. They shall surely rock the streets.

6. Well my favorite Karishma Kapoor has given a new dimension to the Anarkali pattern . She is looking absolutely stunning in this peach colored Anarkali teamed with a zari worked waistcoat.

There are some other ways in which we can style the waistcoat with a completely changed aura. Whether it is a saree, a salwar kameez, a tank top paired with shorts, a tunic top, tights, the long flowing skirt almost anything and everything you can add that extra zing with a waistcoat made of any fabric and texture. Well here are some styles that can guide you to adopt myriads ideas to gear up your favorite waistcoat.

Some tips to guide you with your waistcoat-

  • Instead of denim or the common office-wear material fabric you can go for waistcoat made of KHADI. Keep it plain or go for a one with little embroidery. It will give your modern look a Desi-Twist!!
  •  Jazz it up with your kurta or salwar kameez or give your old t-shirt or a simple shirt a new look.
  •  Don’t just limit your waistcoat to a sleeveless denim but experiment with gorgeous colors like pink (as seen in IMAGE 17), blue, green or any pastel colors.
  •  For a much Indian look accessorize with beaded jewelleries, bangles, jholla bags, mojris or your favorite Kolhapuri sandals. I am sure you are going to steal the show in it.
  •  Just the way Parineeti added a smiley badge, you can add a brooch instead.
  •  Since it is a three piece clothing make sure you are selecting one of light cotton fabric or during the light winters you can go for the denims.
  •  If you are wearing studded or sequined waist coat keep your accessories very minimal or else it shall look over-crowded.
  •  The sequined or zari worked waistcoat looks stunning with an anarkali outfit. Check out Karishma Kapoor in the above outfit.

You can try it quite effortlessly.

So hope you liked reading my article. Eagerly waiting for your responses and please share with me how you wear your waistcoat. If you have any other fantastic idea about styling the waistcoat, do share here. 🙂

Take Care 🙂
