theBalm Beauty Queen Stainiac Cheek and Lip Stain Review

I have been fan of theBalm products for a long time. Have you seen their packaging? It’s innovative and quite attractive. The old, golden borders and luxurious looks may be fancy, but to me, they appear boring. Their eye shadow palettes are just WOW! Not only concentrating on the packaging, this company also makes good quality products with not so high-end pricing. I have purchased quite lot of products from this brand. Here, I am reviewing their lip and cheek stain ‘Stainiac’ in the shade Beauty Queen. This name sounds like it “madly stains” everything. Well, we’ll see!

Product Description:
Stainiac “hint of tint” works with all skin tones. Dab just a touch on your Cheeks and Lips; layer to pop the color. Fear not those dreaded streaks most tints leave behind – Stainiac aloe-infused gel-based formula is designed to give you more time before the stain sets.

Price:
$17 (approximately INR 1020)

Availability:
The balm is widely and easily available on any international makeup website

My Experience with theBalm Beauty Queen Stainiac Cheek and Lip Stain:

Packaging:
It comes in a lip-gloss like plastic packaging. The wand is a doe foot applicator. It delivers quite controlled amount of product in one go. There is stopper at mouth of the container which controls the amount disposed. The cap is a silver colored screw cap. All the details  – manufacturing, weight, ingredients etc., are embossed on the body of the container. At the bottom of the container, shade name is mentioned on a transparent plastic label. The packaging is very sturdy and travel friendly. The amount of product provided by weight is 8.5 g.

Texture:
It is a gel based product. In the ingredients, it is mentioned that Aloe Vera has been used. How much change does this bring in moisturizing properties of this product? I do not have any idea! Since it is gel based, it feels quite cool and soothing on skin. This product is intended to be used on cheeks as well as lips. When used on cheeks, it applies little patchy, so you have to blend it well. Although it is blendable, it dries very fast. It can be built up easily on cheeks since that is a plain surface. I cannot say the same stuff for lips though. Since lips area is not even and sometimes chapped, it applies patchy and cannot be evenly blended. It can be drying on the lips. You have to scrub and hydrate your lips properly, before applying this.

Pigmentation:
This color is a very pretty berry shade, but the problem is that it gives a very light wash of color that may suit the cheeks, but not on lips. It can be built up on cheeks, but on lips it is not buildable. When I took a swatch on the wrist, I deposited color on my wrist and blended it. Blending resulted in concentrating all the color on my finger. Hence, I will suggest a synthetic face brush to be used that does not deplete the color.

On being applied to the cheeks, this color looks very pretty especially during winters as it gives that pinched look. It will go very well with skin having beige and pink undertones. Many people compare it to Benefit’s Benetint, but Benetint stains better than Stainiac.

Staying Power:
It stayed on my cheeks for 4-5 hours. It is not a long staying product though layering will help. One thing more, it fades off if it comes in contact with water. Setting with makeup spray will help a lot.

Would I Recommend theBalm Beauty Queen Stainiac Cheek and Lip Stain?
Yes, I will recommend, but not to everyone. I like a multipurpose product and that’s why I purchased it, but it is good only for cheeks. I cannot depend on it on hot and humid days. For someone who lives in colder or drier region, it is a good product to have.
