theBalm DownBoy Shadow Blush Review

Hello pretty faces,

How was your weekend? Mine was pretty laidback and I slept a lot. Caught up with all the sleep deficiency I had due to my super naughty nephew and to pep up the makeup talk, I got a bunch of cosmetics from my mom who recently visited abroad and I took the opportunity to handover my list to her, but this blush/shadow came as a surprise because it was not on my list and she picked it up randomly.

Product Description:

A polished and put-together woman makes the boys go wild and this baby pink shadow/blush adds just the right amount of color to ensure that you turn heads. Our formula is made of finely-graded powder, which helps provide an even and smooth texture to the skin. The light-reflecting particles also give off an aura of elegance without detectable shimmer. When you can’t keep the boys away, blame it on the blush.

Packaging:

The Balm company has this lovely way of presenting stuff in cardboard packaging with vintage designs all over. The blush comes in a slip-in paper cover. There is no applicator provided which might seem to be a con, but honestly, how many of us use the applicator. For me it is better not to include an average rated brush, rather pack in more product. There is a high quality mirror inside the flip top blush which comes handy for touch ups. The flip top has magnet attached to it and hence it shuts properly. There is hardly any chance of the top opening up and getting spoiled if you travel with it.

Pigmentation:

Lovely! One swipe of the brush on the blusher is enough to give that pink glow to the face. You can definitely build-on the color if you wish to, but as the shade is dirty pink, I like to keep it on the down side. Very fair girls might apply it heavily with a pink/mauve lipstick for a lovely glow.

Staying Power:

It stays on and on and on….until I remove it. People with very oily skin might find the staying power to be a little low.

My Experience with theBalm DownBoy Shadow Blush:

I was not a blush person but when I reaped the benefits of having a healthy glow on my cheeks I realized how much important a blush is. But I hardly go over-board with blush so it was not on my wish list. Somehow my mom felt I would like this shade and she picked it up for me. I am so thankful to her and kudos to her choice because she is a no-makeup person. The shade is a dirty pink. I call it dirty because it is not very bright, in-to-the-face type of shade. It can be carried off pretty easily and almost everyday. The brush picks up enough color at one go and deposits well. There is no powdery feel to the blush.

I was wondering why they have named it as shadow/blush. I have not used it as shadow, so I will not comment on the staying power or pigmentation on the lids, but as a blush it is one of its kind. This is one of their hot-selling products as claimed by the SA. So, I am proud to own this….thank you MA.

Pros of theBalm DownBoy Shadow Blush:

  • Awesome pigmentation.
  • Staying power is very high.
  • Shade will suit most skin tones.
  • Very classy packaging.
  • Non powdery

Cons of theBalm DownBoy Shadow Blush:

  • Pricey.

Will I Recommend theBalm DownBoy Shadow Blush?
